an o2 sensor would not cause starting issues, as the o2 doesn’t engage feedback with the ecm until it’s heated to roughly 300*
until that time, it does nothing

Got a line on a 98 Ford Escort ZX2 thrugh a buddy for $250 needs brakes/rotors and possibly a fuel pump &/or filter and it is good to go… figure I can use that as a DD while I prepare to really get down and dirty with the teg :)[/QUOTE]
not worth the trouble, IMO. needs fuel pump means not running. who knows if it actually is the pump or not. that and the brakes make this a certified money pit on the rise. up to you, of course. but i’d be weary

but wouldn’t this sort of explain why the starting issues only happened while the engine was still hot? cold it started fine, hot it would have a rough time if left to sit for a few minutes…
IDK but since the oil change and o2 sensor replacement the issue is gone…
it does run but has an issue where it stalls out when stopping at a red light. knowing this model of escort it usually is an indicator of a fuel filter or possibly the pump starting to go… OFC I could be wrong also as I am just a hobby mechanic.
Brakes are pretty cheap on this one I already checked it out. should be able to get it all in order for maybe 400 total. then flip it for 1k after I am done with it. it would only be a temp while I work on the teg anyways.
either way for 250 bucks what’s the harm lol. registration is current on a PNO so I can at least get it home up on stands and give it a once over. if it is more trouble than it is worth, I can always resell it for what I paid if not a little more.

i suppose as a temp it’d be alright. just made it sound like it was a bit of a POS. guess not though
