Finally I hit the darkside

Finally got the car running…Me and a buddy of mine just got back from tuning my car with a wideband. There is only 88 miles on my new motor after tonight. I will do my first oil change when I wake up tommorrow. One little problem though, I managed to fit a 92-95 civic rad half core in my car and what not, But I am having a problem with the car overheating…I don’t think it has to do with the rad though. let me tell you guys the prob and you tell me what you think…Ok the car runs fine and runs at normal operating temps (as per sensor on stock guage cluster) But out of no where it will read REALLY hot where I think my rad cap would explode but no heat comes out vents and I check the air blowing out of the fan on the rad and it is cool. Do you think my thermostat is bad? should I bleed the cooling system? Just to let you know I have Golden Eagle sleeves and the told me to use Bars Leaks to prevent sleeve rusting…Do you also maybe think that is clogging it up (it is very chunky)??? Sorry I was so long but I need to fix, Gotta hit (full)boost soon. Evan

did you even break the engine in? Just wondering 'cause you said it had 88 miles on it. If it was me that had the heating issue I’d just remove the thermostat once just to see If the overheating would stop, otherwise its easy to get in the cycle of replacing parts and not finding the prob.

How are you doing Evan? How do you find the Zdyne?Thats turbo for ya brother. Just playing man. That very same thing happened to me when I just started up my heep of bolts. Did you bleed the coolant from the bleed srcew on the upper rad hose neck? You have got a air pocket in there. I had the same thing happen to me when I got my turbo teg on the road for the first time. As the season is slowly coming to a end that rad you got should be ok, But usually Civic rads in Integras with forced induction is taboo (needs more cooling capacity). Start off by draining the coolant and refilling it using the bleeder screw. Thats solved my problem. If your problem persisits you have no choice but to change that rad or get a serious aftermarket fan. But if she still overheats turn on your heater in the car to full blast and that should help too.

Show some pics under the hood, I would love to see that badboy:up:

you have a massive air bubble in the cooling system somewhere. i am 500% sure of this.

Cool, thanks for all the replys back guys. I will try to post pics after I find a USB cable for my digi cam. Now what is the best way to bleed the system for air in my coolant. I have used the release valve a bunch of times and I keep filling it up randomly. Do you think I should take the thermostat out completely for break in of motor? check back later, thanks…Evan

good call on the air bubble. You shouldn’t have to remove the thermostat. After I fill up a coolant system I leave the radiator cap off and let it run and when it stops bubbling, no more air, Been doing it that way for a while and haven’t had any probs. Not exactly sure if it will work in your case.

as far as the half size radiator goes, u can get the same size one in duel core (thicker) from the del slo’s the ones wid b16’s had the duel core radiator atleast, works about as good as the tegs stock one… but takes less width…

just to give you guys an update…I did in fact bleed all the air out of the system and drilled some holes in my thermostat. It seems I may have to retorque my head studs it seems like compression is going in my coolant and filling my over fill tank. I will do this on Monday and I will give you guys an update on the subject for people who search. Evan

where at in philly do you live, I go there every week

right outside north east. why do you go down philly, to go to the street races?
