fmax injectors

I was at Fmax’s site and I was reading about their additional injectors. They sound pretty good, independantly controlled and run on stock fuel pressure, and they cool the charge air as the fuel evaporates in the IM.

Are they as good as Fmax claims? and is there any place I could buy them without getting the whole kit. I think I’m going to do a low boost cutom setup to start and turn up the boost as my wallet allows. I was thinking those injectors with the control unit might be a good way to do it. Any thoughts?

It looks good on paper but it sucks on your car. Having extra injectors plumed into the intake pipe can cause fuel atomization problems and you won’t get an even/consistant amount of fuel into each cylinder. Go with 4 larger injectors and a VAFC or SAFC, which ever is aplicable. It’s a much more reliable set up.

Thank you. One more question, if I’m going to run about 7 psi to start, would you recommend a higher volume fuel pump, bigger injectors (maybe 440s) or both.

Just to let you in on my plan, I’m thinking 6-10 psi on a stock b18a block with MSD BTM and maybe a thicker head gasket. While I’m driving that I’m going to build a 2.0 litre, resleeved b series block (prob a bored out b18) with rods and 9.0:0 pistons.

Just haven’t decided on a turbo setup yet, but will probably be a custom 14b with starion intercooler.

Sound good?

At 10psi you are going to be at the upper limits of the stock injectors. Some people will say the stock injectors will be ok and others say not. I’m with the people that say not. At 10psi you’re going to be pushing those injectors HARD and if one fails (even more likely if they are the original injectors with 100k miles on them) then your motor is going to be reduced to a smoldering lump of metal.

Getting a higher volume fuel pump is a must with larger injectors. 440cc injectors are on the big side for your application and you’ll have problems controlling them with anything other than a stand alone engine management system. 320cc injectors will work well.

Your setup sounds good. You might want to consider using a stock head gasket. A stock B18A only runs a compression ratio of 9.2:1 so lowering your cr at the boost levels you’re going to be running isn’t criticle.

Remember to do your homework and be patient. Do things right the first time…

good luck
