Ok, I go to start my car in the morning, its perfect, I drive for a bit, maybe 15 minutes, and leave my car sitting in the hot sun for hours. Then, I go to start it and nothing happens, I mean you hear the usual noise when an engine doesn’t start. I do this a few times. Then I wait about 3 or 4 minutes, it starts, I accelerate to about 4000 RPM’s, and then it just stalls while its up there. A minute after this happens the car starts without any trouble. Should I drive my car off a cliff? This has been happening all summer long, almost everytime its hot outside. I brought it to the dealer
and they said nothing was wrong, does anyone know whats happening? I really appreciate it…
Sounds like your main fuel relay. The solder cracks from the fluctuation in temperature inside your car.It will usually act up when its real hot outside. When it does this does the car turn over but just not fire? Also when you turn your key just before the car starts does the check engine light stay on when you have this problem? If so give the pannel by your right knee a good tap and that should kick the relay in.
That would be my geuss.
Yeah, the car turns over, but it doesn’t fire. Also, the check engine light does stay on after this problem before the car starts. Oh well, I’ll just deal with it I guess, but thanks for your advice…
100% positive it’s your Main Fuel relay… Had the exact same problem… if your Check engine light is staying on when you put the key to the on position, this means your fuel pump isn’t running and the system is not pressurized… which means your MFR is going bad! Replace it, It’s a 5 minutes job…
