nice kaminari rear!
I had a dream the other night that I still had the DB1 stowed away in my garage, So it had me wondering of where it is meow… Maybe in the next few months or a few years if I cross paths I’d buy it back (i check CL, Here, HT and row52 [pick and pull app] to see if it pops up anywhere for sale or destroyed).
Just my old one has sentimental value
You see my build thread? Getting mine back wasn’t what I thought it would be.
Still looking for a db
Lol. Stay positive man! One will come your way.
I’ve been looking for a year lol
I just looked… I expect mine would be in pretty bad shape too, But maybe worse than yours. I just want mine back for the sentimentality… Running or not, I’d like to just put her back in her old room (garage) and slowly (months-years) rebuild her back to her former glory. I still have my X-Runner and Impala so it won’t be my only form of transportation again.
My old one was last smogged in the middle of nowhere between our area’s. If you see her pop up for sale please post it up here
And with a quick google search of my old VIN number (should of done that earlier)… My heart is broken as the dream of finding my old beloved DB1 has vanished
I feel sick
ouch… that’s horrible.
Little update on my teg since the last time I was here
I’ve got to take some fresh pics since I’ve changed so much lately. I won’t say anything I don’t have pics for yet but for the stuff I do have some pics of…
I was prepping for a lapping day with the teg and 2 weeks before the event, my occasional slight grind into 3rd became a need to double clutch every time into 3rd. I ordered a full carbon synchro kit from Synchrotech in cali and less than a week later it was in my hands along with a hardened 3rd collar.
The following monday (with the track day coming up on the end of the week on saturday) I ripped the trans out and apart to find what was a “rebuilt” trans with 2 bolts missing and a random washer stuck to the magnet in the bottom of the casing.
The culprit of the grind (a donor and rare 4.4FD cable B16 trans was needed cause no one makes this part for that specific trans anymore)
The difference between a traditional brass synchro and the new CF ones
Some 10-11 hours later the trans was back in and running good as new. Never felt better in fact. Every gear including reverse all brand spanking new. The trans was great for the lapping day at shannonville the following saturday tho my brakes were another story. I shouldn’t say I’m surprised, I basically took a car that maybe made 120hp to the wheels new and added another 60-80 or so, hauling it back down from speed takes a little more effort and after a few laps out the front brakes would be smoking like crazy. Let it cool off and get back out there, stop taking the corner at the end of the back straight so hard and I was able to go quite a while without issues but I wanted to improve on that so as soon as I got home I started looking around for a solution.
2 real answers came to me pretty quick, both were options I’d known about but never really had a need to improve the brakes yet. My search also took me back here and helped me decide, The willwood kit or the ITR/Mini cooper rotors setup I’d been hearing about.
I don’t think I could get any bigger without moving up to 16’s all year round.
Oh and as for the track day, if you pay attention you’ll notice I usually take it pretty easy in the corners that really work the brakes unless I was having a lap I really wanted to push. This was my first time on the track, definitely some learning to do and room for improvement but I was pretty happy with how the car performed and held up since for the most part every aspect of what I intended this car to be good at was tested and tortured. The trans held up well, the motor I also built including internals didn’t even burn a drop of oil after 500+ km’s driving normal plus a lap day. Not bad for a VTEC Honda motor I even do all the tuning on and beat fairly regularly.

I thought it was stolen and found then was getting put back together. This is a sad ending.
It did, It was stolen in 2009 and stripped of the intake, Coolant reservoir, Wheels, Headlights, tail lights, emblems, seats, entire stereo including the 1 off door speaker mounts, arm rest, steering wheel, hub and quick release, Window visors and a few other small things… But the owner (friend of mine) rebuilt it using junkyard parts so it had a stock intake, E30 bottle cap wheels, 3 piece headlights and palmy blue seats then sold it to someone who I found on Honda-tech after he sold it… Then I lost it again until I found it totalled in a salvage auction.
Damn…I’m jealous of you guys down south where the climate is so much kinder to cars… I still have mine but the exterior is slowly going downhill. It’s not bad but not nearly as nice as your guys’ cars. I can’t afford a proper paint job, but I am toying with the idea of spray bombing the whole thing with flat white plastidip to at least cover up the paint blemishes.
