Going from 10W-30 to 5W-30

I live in Puerto Rico and I recently(couple of months) get a 92 GS- R with 165,xxx miles. I’m going to do an oil change and I was wondering if using Mobil 1 SuperSyn is fine for hot weather applications like in my home(Usually its from 89-92 F). The car looks great and runs like new cause it was from an old man and he always service the car in an Authorized Acura Service center and with original parts, but since its so high in milage i would like to have your impressions please.

GS-R rules!!!

Unless the previous owner was using synthetic oil I would just use regular oil. My car had been serviced well too but then I decided to put in mobil1 5w-30 synthetic and I started burning oil like crazy. Then I switched back to 10w-30 regular oil and it still burned fast.

I have read in many places that synthetic oil cleans the motor out(atleast mobile1 does). It cleaned out the carbon deposits in my motor that had been keeping leaks sealed up. I’m not talking about leaking out of the motor i’m talking about leaking around the piston rings.

I did get better gas mileage though.

ahh damn i was gonna switch to synthetic but i dont know if its a good idea now. i use 10w-30 castrol gtx drive hard on a b16a with 32,000 miles. maybe its still young enough to switch now before its too late. later

i has been using 10w-30 penzoil high mileage, and my last oil change i had to get 5w-30 since the shop was out of 10w-30. im not even done with my first tank, and i have already noticed a great difference in mileage. ill prbably gain about 30-50 miles or so on my tanks now.
