Hello a friend just gave me a brand new gt28 and i am looking for the some parts. He bought it to put on a saab and never did it. Anyways i am looking for the flanges that bolt on to the compressor side (the inlet and outlet). I will put out pictures if need be. if some one to direct me to a site or something along those like that. I am trying to get this project done soon!

Also on the side of the turbo it says (A/R 0.86) then M3 and 2J if helps any also if someone could tell me the exact turbo i have!

Thanks

Also I’m obd0 and i am going to run like 7 psi, am i going to need a tune or should i just wait until i swap to obd1 ant get it tuned. I know i do need a tune it run better. my question is could i just use a fmu like a blox or something to just run along side of it until i go obd1

i have read and searched this just want a clear answer i have also read the turbo guide a couple times

Okay never mind i am going to get a base map on my computer and not a fmu. So i have a another question about the oil line does it matter as long feed line is on top and the return is on bottom? on the turbo i have the return is on top and the feed is on bottom. ( the return as the flange that bolts to it right?) same thing with the coolant lines are they interchangeable?

also i would like to see the gt28 on a da if i could !

</div>

the oil inlet must be on the top and they are not interchangeable. the return is the one with the flange. you’ll have to loosen both housings to position the center housing correctly. as for the coolant line it doesn’t matter.

heres my gt2871r

OK that’s what i need to know! Thank you very much for the information! I rotated it today and i have a problem with the linkage for the internal wastegate! is there a easier way to relocate the actuator?

</div>

just weld it shut and use an external wastegate. otherwise you’ll have to compensate the position of your turbo just for the wastegate which in my opinion isn’t worth it.

</div>

i took it all apart and it worked out well i got the return on the bottom and the waste gate in the right spot! the manifold had not spot for the external wastegate so i am going to use the internal one until i run more boost.

I have a sandwich plate (greddy) should i use this or just take it off the oil sending unit and tee into that?

If i use this plate, which of the three hole on it do i use or do i just pick one.

I am going to send my computer to Xenocron because i am going to use my obd0 for as long as possible, i was going to use TurboEdit and i just wondered how easy it is for some one that has not used it or tuned before.

here is have i have so far
gt28
edelbrock manifold
450 dsm blue tops
xs intercooler, piping i am going to make
xs blow off valve (CHEAP) i need to get a different one but it can with the kit
3 inch down pipe w/ the v-band
greddy sandwitch plate

what i need
the ecu with base map (xenocron)
oil lines
coolant lines
not use about a missing link (do i need one if my ecu tuned)

is there any thing i missed?

</div>

depending how much boost you’ll be running you might need to change your map sensor. but since your using the stock internal wastegate it’s probably like 6-8 psi??? if so then your fine. and i would use the sandwich plate and you plug into it anywhere you want.

besides that you’ll need an upgraded fuel pump, adjustable FPR, and weld a fitting into your oil pan for the turbo return.

Alright thank you very much! yea i am only going to be running low boost for the time being. yeah i thought about those other parts just forgot to list them How much Fuel PSI should i run???

You have been very helpful, i will post pic and dyno sheets after i am done!

What fuel pressure should i be running with DSM 450’s blue tops, and like 5-9 psi.

Also am I going to need to do a safc hack? since I am odb0? Or will the tune that I get from xenocron do the trick? I am not doing the obd1 conv yet to save money, I will do it down the road and use eCtune, at Suja One Motoring in Chicago.

I am just wondering if it all can be done with turbo edit or BRE? Without doing the hack to control the injector like it says on the turbo guide???

Some insite on this would be great i have been reading about the tuning on turbo edit just not all it is make perfect sense. YET!

I’m running ECtune with a Moates Demon emulator on my 91 and i couldn’t be happier, i think you should seriously consider the conversion to obd1 and get a tune before you seriously hurt you engine…

yea my friend is running eCtune on his NA ans he loves it. I am sending my ecu to Xenocron and getting a base maps and reburnable chip and then I could tune it with a data logger. I was not sure about the injector with the tune. i am going to do the conversion later on i am only going to be running like 6 psi. i am not going to blow my engine i am getting it tuned just with a obd0 program! i have heard many good thing about these programs so i am not worried. i just wanted to know about the injector situation with the tune!

</div>

Okay I got my answer to my question! I talked to Xenocron and they said that I dont need a safc hack or anything. Because when he does the chipping the ecu will recognize the injectors I install. Then if I want to do my tuning I just buy the “DIYer Intro Tuning Package” that they offer! So thanks for the information and support thus far fellow G2IC-ers!

So i am going to send my ecu and have it chipped to my spec’s and and running it and tuning it!

yes hes correct the ecu should be programmable as to what size injectors are being run and adjust as necessary.
