Good performance for stock car

Aiight here it is

My car is an automatic 1992 integra 4door GS.

About a couple of days ago my car got smoked by my friends 1991 Acura Integra RS.

My mods are:
ACautotechnic cold air intake
2.25 piping to a dtm muffler
magnecor spark wires
It’s being lowered soon w/ tokico blues with stech teins
GReddy Headers are coming soon in the mix

I just want some good mods for my automatic. I wanna bring my automatic to a max limit on a low budget. Maybe nitrous… camshafts… cam gears…

I’m getting a manual transmission changeover later on… I just wanna see how quick my auto can go

Harberdasher, I thought your entire philosophy was against nitrous?

Anyhow…g24dizzor, here’s how to get alot more HP wit very little $$:
As Harberdasher said, run nitrous. Although, I would go with NOS brand, because, there hardware has been tried time and time again, and is somewhat the standard “race-horse” nitrous brand to run.
A 150 shot wet direct port nitrous, with Mitsubishi DSM 450cc injectors, should get you alteast 200+ WHP. You’ll need to increase the fuel side of your air/fuel ratio before running nitrous, so that your engine does not operate dangerously lean, and detonate. (Hence the 450cc injectors.) Also, on Harberdashers’ turbo guide (on this forum), is an explaination of how to modify your injector wiring harness, to fit the DSM 450cc injectors onto your 1992 wiring harness.
Also, lower your front tire PSI to 23psi (or lower), for better off the line taction.
(Also, “stage your tires” as in, warm them up with a 5+ second burn out, so you can increase your tire adhesion to the cement. Also, pull out your spare wheel and jack, and any momentarily useless weight.) Also, if you havn’t done so already, disconnect your powersteering belt. (My engine made 5 wheel horsepower more on DNR’s DynoJet, with the belt removed. I have the dyno chart to prove it.)

STOP REPEATING WHAT OTHER PEOPLE HAVE JUST SAID.

i used to hate the kids in high school who would sit there while the teacher explained something, then as soon as the teacher was done, raise their hands and say “so what you’re saying is…” and proceed to say exactly what the teacher just said for the past 30 minutes.

we used to cover those kids in ketchup at lunch and leave them outside for the crows.

I remember in school when the teacher would ramble on with an explanation for 30 minutes. After she was done there would always be these kids that would raise their hands and say “So basically you’re saying…” and they would end up saying exactly what the teacher had just explained.

LOL, Juuuuuuuust messing!

On a serious note, I think your best performance mod would be to convert to a manual transmission.

Haberdasher is right. I have a 92 RS ATX with I/H/E and a 55 shot Zex kit. Zex originally used a B18 for the design of kit #82011 and is the most widely recommended system for our cars. The Stock fuel pump will be good up to a 75 shot but after that you will need to upgrade. I installed the kit in about an hour. Be sure to use copper plugs and 92-93 octane fuel. If you use a 55 shot you can leave timing alone but retard it 2-3 degrees for a 75 shot. When I launch with N2O the tires shred all of first gear and you hardly get moving till it hits second. Just keep in mind that 30% driveline loss us ATX owners have so a 75 shotwith your mods will put about 150-155HP to the wheels.

Good info. I don’t think you can really guess the amount of HP though.

Does this sound good!?
When I launch I leave the switch off of the nozzle but when I reach like 4 grand I hit the button for the nitrous. Will that create wheel spin at all. Because on the Automatics G2 the first gear is so long that and 2nd. And for some reason my car it takes like 1-1.5 seconds to shift to 3rd. It’s funny I’m racing with an Automatic. But I’m not ashamed. I’ve had to car for quite sometime. My first car! and yea I’m in high school and I work…

So imma get the zex or NOS 75 shot nitrous and denso iridium or zex spark plugs. Then I’m gonna upgrade my fuel system a bit.

If that’s not enough I might as well just move on to the tranny swap. But I herd it was an ass to do. So I might not or might go through with it

Thanks you guys for all the good info

if you don’t want to do a manual tranny swap because you’re afraid of the work involved, you’d be better off just selling the auto car and picking up a manual.

I wouldnt waste the money on iridium plugs. Sure they are great for nitrous but i would rather melt a .99 copper plug than a piston with an Iridium plug.

there ya go pistons is another factor. I should replace my pistons right? yea i’m kinda new to this. I here people talk about OS itr pistons and what not. What does that mean? is it because it’s a bigger piston? I’ll melt my piston? help me out on this

OS = Oversized piston

stock is 81MM Bore. Soemtimes when you install new pistons ppl will overbore to .20 or whatevr MM over, so therefore you’d need a matching piston with the same bore

I’m getting a 75 shot zex complete wet kit for 300 bucks from a friend. I think that is a steal! He got all of the nozzlesand everything and fittings for it. I’m just gonna run 50 shot. and I will build up the motor soon. or later on I might sell the g2 and pick up a CRX that I really wanted 1991 CRX SI clean everything for 1300 from a friend also! so yea thanx everyone for your help!

also u might wanna check out that tranny and torque converter to make sure everything is cool b4 you start mashing on the pedal with juice…i have a automatic also and the reason why it takes so long for our cars to shift is because acura and honda autos have what they call a kick-down gear, all 4 gears pretty much kick down, and rev up to about 5500-6500 rpmswhen heavy on the throttle.i know its weird.i smoked a 96 eclipse non turbo of course, using my auto.

is the kick down thing bad or good? if bad. is there a way to remove it? or is there a way that I can get a performance torque converter? Hmmmm I wonder if they make a 5 spd automatic transmission :giggle: … that’ll be crazy shit
