Hey guys I just got done pushing my teg 3 blocks in the rain b/c it decided to die on me. I pulled into the food mart by my house and the lil bro went in to get some stuff. i was talking on the cell and suddenly I see the tach dropping from 750 and stuttering…hmmm…so i mash the gas but nothin happens and I cant save it. WTF? My gas gauge reads a fuzz more than 1/4 tank and I know theres a light, but I have only had it that low on 2 occasions…SO does anyone know how to test the fuel sending unit? It seems as tho the gauge was there for awhile…like it dropped to there and then got stuck. I put some gas in and it started after 2 trys…hmm…Dan? BR? anybody know if I can pull that sucker out from under the seat and test it with a resistance meter or somethin?
Thanks
Jim
Do you have any sort of gauge overlays (indiglos, or white faced gauges)? If you do, chances are they are keeping the needle from moving. But if you don’t, pull the cluster out and manually see that the needle moves. I have never heard of the fuel level sending unit going bad on any Honda, and I’ve been working on them for quite a while. Check it out and let me know. Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. Later.
Will it start up now or is it dead. If it won’t start, make sure to check the Igniter located near your distributor. This thing regulates your spark, and are very commonly needing replacement. I changed mine last year and it sounds like your car died like mine!
Re: Guru! (dan!) Help now! Anyone!

I know when i mounted my white faces on my Teg I had to use a dab of glue on the corners to keep them from rising up against the needle. The needles are just not strong enough for any resistance other than its job.
beef
Yeah it starts fine.
Dan- I do have overlays…agh now I gotta pull that damn cluster out…Wouldn’t the light go on though? Is the light activated by the position of the needle or the resistance/reading from the sending unit? If so wouldn’t the needle get stuck and the light still go on?
Thanks
goin to wrestle the cluster out

my fuel light doesn’t come on. I stranded myself one day cuz I usually get about 310 miles to the tank before the light comes on and it stalled out at 319 and the gas light didn’t come on. Don’t trust the gas light!
Isn’t it bad to keep the fuel level low on your car?? I heard that it’s always best to keep the tank as close to full as you can, instead of always keeping it under half a tank… (not saying anyone does…)
Something about condensation or what not? Hopefully someone can give us the skinny here!![]()
heard running the tank that low collects the **** the builds on the bottom of the tank.or should i say grows(j/k). im not sure about this just what was recommend to me to not run it more then a 1/8 or some low number all the time but im guilty of it too.
The best way to run it from the beginning is full to empty. It is good to completely empty your tank, just don’t keep it there. When your tank is low all the time, this is when you get the condesation.
I always fill then empty, it keeps your tank brand new and doesn’t allow for a build up at the bottom of your tank.
Lets say you don’t empty your tank completely, the one time you let it go below 1/4, your going to pick up a bunch of **** to fill your fuel filter and injectors.:dead:
