about how much HP will be gained if the stock cat is gutted?
who cares? why would you want to gut the cat anyway? you don’t like breathing clean air? Well if you don’t maybe the person behind you at a stop light does. Just some food for thought.
MAYBE MAYBE MAYBE … 1 if that :bored:
not such a hot idea though… that is if you care.
Just get a highflow cat: http://www.car-sound.com/
Hey the guy ask how much Hp he would it gain. He didnt say he was going to do it… Does anybody know the answer because I am curious also.
…
i don’t think there’s real gain , but if you got the complet combo , i/h/e and the high-flow cat , that works great ![]()
usually I dont like to post info that I am not sure about but I keep seeing people with gutted cats. I remember reading somewhere that gutting your cat actually reduces horsepower (TQ, whatever). This is because exhaust gasses get trapped in the parts that you didnt get out of the cat and that creates turbulence which slows your exhaust gas velocity. The place I read it from had dyno charts and everything. Just buy a high flow.

Makes total sense ben, thats what I was thinking…
I gutted my cat, but think that replacing it with a straight through pipe would be the best…
I have a high flow and I felt nothing (I thought my cat was going b/c of the sulfur smell but it was the O2 sensor). It did help my idle, though. Unless you have some mods you shouldnt need a high flow or a test pipe (not directed at anyone).
