Headers B20b and B20z

Are they interchangeable? Will the ls header fit these motors? What about the 94 up heads and IM, will they bolt up to our G2’s?

B20B and B20Zs uses the same header. I used my 92 LS stock manifold. The B20s head is very identical if not the same as the b18bs. Am sure people with the newer LS head would answer your other Qs.

B20A is a different engine though in case you don’t know.

The B20 exhaust manifolds are pieces of junk. Luckily the block has the same external dimensions as the B18 and all B-series heads (not counting the G3 Prelude “B-series” engines) have the same exhaust ports. So your LS header will fit no problem, and also get you some more power than the crap B20 header.

b20 swap in our g2 tegs?

Is this swap pretty much straight forward? Can I use my existing tranny? Are all b18a after market parts interchangable w/ this b20 engine. What b20 engine will work w/ a 93 LS? Will it pass smog? Sorry for so many questions.

Yeah, this swap is very straight forward. Well, you just have to transfer the Intake manifold, if it doesn’t have the one like an LS engine already, and the crank pulley. That’s all i can think of right now. Both the b20b and b20z would work in your 93 LS. One more thing you have to move over though is your distributor.

You can use your exsisting tranny and exsisting everything else. After you move everything over to the b20 it’s like swapping in another b18a/b. A lot of parts are interchangeable, the pistons though are different and not swappable.

Smog? Am in the process of finding out and making mine leagal in the state of cali.

would an LS head on a b20b block still only yield a 8.8 cr? Would the head be a direct bolt on w/no machining. Also, what cars are these b20 engines from?

Don’t quote me on this but i do think the b20b would still have the 8.8 CR since their heads are basically the same as an LS motor. It should be a direct bolt on.

B20B/Zs come from CR-Vs
B20A comes from the old preludes.

does the 90-93 adjustable cam gears fit on the b20b or b20z? Also, since it’s a 2.0 liter, does it require more fuel? or does our cars supply enough so it won’t lean out? I’m really starting to think about this motor.

The B18A/B and B20B/Z heads are identicall meaning, no matter which one is on which block. In this case, the displacement will remain that of the original configuration of the block.

Yes, cam gears will interchange between B20 and B18A/B heads… read above.

Yes, the stock fuel system on your integra is mroe than adequate to fuel a B20 even with light mods.

USDM B20B/Z come from CRV’s only… JDM B20B come from a variety of cars: SMX, Stepwagon, Honda Orthia, CRV etc…

If you get a JDM B20B, you can use your existing distributor, or the B20 piece… however it will need to be repinned.
Injectors from a JDM B20B will work, but they use OBD2 style connectors (same as the B20 distributor) so it is more convenient to use your existing injectors and distributor.
This goes ONLY for 92-93 integras.

You CAN use your existing tranny, but if you want the most out of your swap. I HIGHLY suggest you acquire a vtec tranny.
Makes a world of difference.

is the b20b block a direct bolt in swap tho? (ie. the engine mounts)

d

Drivers side mount that is bolted to the block has to be changed to your existing one… thats all.

wowee, i’m starting to get some serious ideas here.

Thanks for all your knowledge

I just thought to say thanks for your knowledge. I finally know which road I want to take w/ my car. I love torque and vtec is far from.

I thought that the ls tranny would be geared better for the torque than the short geared vetec trannys?

Shorter gears = more torque to the ground, plain and simple. The ls tranny is better for gas mileage.

This is an OLD post.

b20 pass smog?

i think i put this in the wrong forum i was searching for information about b20s and i found this thread im sorry if its in the wrong one …

i heard that a b20 won’t pass smog. like u can’t put a truckl/suv motor in a small car. does all of your guys b20s pass smog? and if u referee it they will tell u to pull it back out is that true?
