headers dont fit

Ok, i have a 90 rs, with a jdm b16 swapped in.
i bought dc sports 4-1 headers for a b16( del sol vtec/civic si) but they dont fit.
they dont clear the oil pan, but i dont understand why they wouldnt fit?

has anyone else had that problem? also what headers would fit? is it simply because it is 4-1 that it wont fit? would a 4-2-1 header fit under the oil pan? thanks:)

With the 4-1 headers you need to shave the crossmember to get them to fit.

I have that exact setup in my 90 RS. You do have to notch the crossmember to fit it. Also you need to add a extension to your stock cat and rotate the flange a little to line up the bolts. If you have any questions hit me up at joshn357@excite.com HTH

ok that sounds good, but once ive cleared the crossmember and bolt the primary flange up to the block, will it fit underneath the oil pan? that was where i was having some trouble. ive already had my about 6 inches of pipe welded onto the cat to extend it forward, so im reasonable sure it will bolt up to the cat, my only remaining problem is if it will fit underneath the oil pan?
Do you guys know for sure if it will? I dont see why it wouldnt, i mean, i doubt the dimensions for the jdm b16 are any different than a us b16

if you want the header to be a bolt on mod you need to buy it for the CAR, NOT the motor. However if you want a really high flowing header they don’t make one for our cars. You have to get a jdm version… which like you’re learning with your header does not bolt on.

to get it to fit you will have to have the exhaust modified in order to let it bolt up, and like the others said, notch the crossmember. There may be some versions of headers that don’t fit at all, i’m just not sure about that.

Like I said I have that exact setup on my car right now. Yes it will fit. I know because I have done it. Notch the crossmember extend the cat and turn the flange so the bolts line up. As for buying a header for the car and not the motor that is not always the case. For example if you had a 95 civic dx and you had a gsr motor in there you could not use a header for the dx motor you would have to use the gsr header. And if you ran a b18 header on your b16 it WOULD FIT but it will hang lower due to the b18 having a taller deck height and would end up trashed from bottoming out and speed bumps/debris UNLESS your car has little to no drop. You do not need to alter your exhaust (except for extending the cat) to make it fit. Again I have the same motor/header working on my car right now e-mail me with anymore questions.

uhh… I think he was assuming the engine was stock. If you had a swapped motor that would be obvious.

He does have a motor swap. He went to a JDM B16A

yes i have a jdm b16, thanks for the help vteg, by the way:)

No problem, Let me know how things work out and your opinions on it.

My bad…
