Well I have been thinking a couple things since i got the b18 out of my teg, i wanted to rebuild it with t3/t04e turbo buttttt money doesnt come by often for me so i was thinking this and wanted some opinons… i was looking into b16a2 or b16a1 wich ever i can find cheaper, anyway are these good motors for turbo? i know they have a higher c/r than my engine but i dont feel like going through the whole rebuild of mine, just want to drop in a engine and put little boost ( like 6-8psi ) to it for now… and would it be dumb to do like a gsr head on a b16? is it worth it for the power gains if any, any help would be great, and besides like ls/vtec are there any good frankesteins? like a different head on different bottom that match right up??? thanks in advance
IMO if you are going to spend the 1500 on a swap that might be older than your engine than you should just stick with the b18a and keep the torque before the turbo kicks. and for 1500 that will get you a new internals and cams springs etc and just save up for a hone and a port, i went to the b16 for the vtec and am spendin alot of money, just bad luck for me but if you just are gonna throw a turbo on a stock engine i suggest not one thats been layin around for 10 years try to research the rebuild and good luck.

yeah i want to rebuild the one i have but i dont really have the time, i am moving in march and still need to do the suspension and body… so i might just fdo the b16 and wait cause part of me wants turbo and the other wants n/a so… i wanted a b16a2 obd2 from japan, is that hard to covert to my obd1?
you can get the b16a2 in obd1 and thats what i would do to save time and money if thats the engine you want.
cause otherwise you need to find a new distributor change the fuel rail and injector as well as sell and buy a new ecu so go obd1 and plug and play.
the b16a2 obd1 is out of a 93-95 del sol right? if not let me know so i can check the junkyard or some websites… thanks for the help
no the b16a3 is out of the us del sol. the b16a2 comes from a 92-00 jdm sir so if you just specify you want a 92-95 engine when ordering you should be ok. and when it arrives you can check the year by lookin at the ecu it will have a date stamp. the date is 1 year back so if it says 92 you have a 93 engine.

yes, the b16a3 is out of the del sol. however the b16a2 is out of the usdm 99-01 civic si.
the 92+ jdm civic sir’s came with a “b16a” (no number at the end)
so if i get a b16a2 block with a gsr or itr head a: will it bolt up b: wich ecu shold i get, is the gsr or itr ecu have better rpms and curves or should i just a a piggy back ecu with my b16 one? thanks for the help again

-any vtec head will fit on any vtec block.
-96+ gsr and all itr ecu’s are obd2 and will not work in your car
-your teg is a 92, so you’ll need an obd1 vtec ecu. which means you have a few options: 94-95 gsr ecu (must be used with gsr intake manifold, or be chipped to not control the 2nd butterflies), p61 (stock 92-93 gsr), p30 (jdm obd1 b16a ecu), pr3 (from what i hear there are a few obd1 pr3’s out there…but most are obd0), as well as the p28 (must be chipped to be a dohc program).
