How 2 fit Large XS intercooler!!!!! HELP

I need help

I have a '93 teg gs-r and I am making my own turbo kit from scratch. I bought XS’s big intercooler (24"x 11.5" x 3"). My question is how am I going to put the stock bumper back on the car. Do I have to cut the h*ll out of the metal bumper behind the trim peice. Any help/advice is welcome.

Thanks in advance

start hackin! You’re gonna need some air tools for this hehe

how much you pay for the intercooler

I paid $580 for the intercooler

I have a homie-hookup at XS!

In my opinion it was well worth it!

I will try to post pics of the install when i am finished.

Thanks for the replies

What do they usally sell for. I sold my drag one so I need a new one. I was planning to get the greddy one for the 94-95 GSR,

If I remember correctly the core is $525.00 and the end tanks are like $60.00 a piece.

Then you have to pay them to weld it up for you which is like $150.00.

All that I did was buy the core & end tanks, and then weld it up my self.

Try talking to Shane, he is the guy I bought mine from, maybe he can give you a deal!

Good Luck!

p.s. - their # is (714) 992-4133

YEP

I have finally had some time to work on my car.

I got the i.c. welded up (thanks Doug) and brakets made, however, the damn thing is so big the bumper skin does not fit.

Also when I cut the bumper support I won’t have anything left.

If anyone has any thoughts or ideas for me please share them!

ALL INPUT IS WELCOME!

Thanks

OH CRAP… let me know when you go to California Speedway:D

Dude, your gonna need a HUGE front bumper to fit that ironing board intercooler!!! Looks very nice, though. You might wanna go with either a BW or some type of VIS offering.

hahah mines bigger…and i have the blitz style from VIS. and after looking at it…i have tried sellin the surf board cooler…when i get pics on my car i will let u all know:p

you’re gonna have to hack all the bumper support off then. Its the price you pay for buying a massive IC.

Damn, that’s a HUGE IC! Hopefully, you won’t run into any cooling issues-with the radiator being screened off from air. Looks good, though.

his coolant temps with definately raise, but I think it will be ok. It’s not a junk IC so enough air should flow through it.

INTEGRACON - i’ve been wondering that same thing, my plans include putting two fans on the front of that radiator to push air through. With the exhaust manifold I’m using it is not possible to put the fans in their stock location. Also I’ve amputated the A.C. so that is not in the way any more all that I have behind the I.C. is a Greddy oil cooler off the the passenger side.

FORMZ TSI - How much do you think coolant temps will raise?

I am considering cutting the stock bumper skin on the bottom, and then making a carbon fiber skid plate. Not that I plan on scrapping any I am hoping that it will help keep air through the radiator. Any thoughts?

im going by what has happened on DSMs but I’d say around 20-30°

Dude, if you don’t push enough boost, you will have some major pressure drop. You might wanna try and sell that thing and get the Silvia core from XS.

thats not true at all. That intercooler isnt your run of the mill knockoff. It’s a quality IC that should see no more then about .2psi of drop.

Yes, but if you boost 6 pounds, how much do you think you will actually be really boosting?

BTW, stop being so cheap formititsi. $12.95 is not much.
