It gets expensive if you do it with all factory parts. Those $7.00 orings start to add up quick. The best thing to do is try and find a master rebuild kit that comes with all the seals that are required and a head gasket. They are on Ebay once and a while. The easiest way to do a rebuild is to pull the motor. I’m in the process or rebuilding a B16A now. It seams like I’m going to Acura or Honda and special ordering seals every other day. I’m sure I have over $2,000.00 into the motor already in just parts. OEM honda timing belt, waterpump, DC Sports cam gears, CM flywheel and clutch, LS 5th gear, GSR crank pulley ( was broken when I got the motor) ES, and prothane engine mount inserts… I’m addicted and will admit it openly.
If your going to do it do it right and buy the best parts and repair manuals. You will run into many problems that the manuals do not explain. And you will damage parts while removing and installing them the wrong way. It is a big undertaking, think about it long and hard before you start.
yeah, this guy i talked to awhile ago said he put $3,000 into gaskets in his poor man’s ITR.
do you really need OEM gaskets? like say you are going to run a higher compression head gasket, with the aftermarket gasket be of lesser quality?
