Its driving me nuts!!!

are you refering to the brake rotor? or the distributor rotor?
next time i’ll wait for the picture to load BEFORE i reply ![]()
there’s a plastic cover on the bottom half of the distributor. you can kinda squeeze it together and pull it off.
then there’s a screw (sometimes need an alan key) on the rotor, on the side opposite the contact on the rotor. take the screw out, and the rotor will slide off.
Yep, it’s that pesky screw that holds the rotor on and in position (I had the same problem initially, I just couldn’t see the screw). You’ll probably have to crank the engine over to get the rotor contact pointing foward so that you can get at the screw on the backside with an allen wrench (or maybe screwdriver, could be either). Good luck
Yeah, it’s a phillips screw. If you can’t see it just barely crank the engine until you can get the screwdriver on the screw. It’ll probably be easier if you have someone watch the screw (or crank the engine) since you could have to do it 5+ times which gets annoying going back and forth.
it is a metric allen head screw not a phillips. Make sure to tighten it very tight after you get the new rotor on. Ryanm’s screw backed itself out on his G2 and the cap and rotor got ruined it also cuased the death of his distributer.
it all depends on what rotor was put on there last. sometimes it is a phillips and sometimes it is a metric allen head. i have even seen 8mm 6 point on a distributor before.
sh*t
Guys…I just bought a brand new cap.rotor.and plugs…and my screw on my rotor is stripped. I have 162k on my teg and dont have a clue when the last time these things were replaced.
Sooo, u guys have any ideas ?
thnx:confused:
you could try scribing the distributor on the top so you can get it lined back up and then remove it so you can put it on a bench to be able to bear down on it with the screwdriver or maybe even try those new craftsman screw extractors “as seen on tv”
