hybrid ecu setup

just wanna let you guys know who are new at hybriding or wanna learn that the ecu setup is a main factor. the two i would reccomend is the p28 off 92-95 civic ex reprogrammed or the 94-95 gsr. the one NOT to go with, which i know first hand unfortunatly is the pr3 off the jdm 88-91 civic siR. if any of you guys out there can back me up or list your ecu setups i think it would help some newcomers to the hybrid world out there a lot

I have a P30 and I love it. I have a first gen B16 and with the pr3 they seem to run rough and be luggy in the low rpm’s but with the p30 it is real smooth throughout the whole powerband. I get compliments at how well my B16 runs compared to everyone elses that they have either done the install on or ridden in. I just tell them the reason it is soo smooth and runs so nice is because I did the swap :slight_smile:

I have tons of ECU programs and have chipped/sold many ECUs, so I’ll give my $.02

89-91 PR3 ECUs work great with a Mugen chip in them… I dropped .3 sec alone at the track with that mod on my CRX. The Mugen program is much more noticable in power gains over the Spoon PR3 program. Obviously it’s an non-OBD ECU so it’ll only plug into 90-91 tegs.

For OBD-1 ECUs, such as the P28, P30, P61, and P72, I personally like the chipped P28 since it doesn’t look for a knock sensor, thus no “safety” on the ECU when racing. With those ECUs, I’ve tested them out with a Mugen, Skunk2, JUN, and couple of custom programs from a Hondata system. Mugen & Skunk2 use the same coding on their chips. The JUN chip works out extremely great on high compression DOHC VTEC motors and/or DOHC VTEC motors with cams in them. The Mugen/Skunk2 ECU program works out best on a “stock” DOHC VTEC motor.

Hope this helps out.

Newman… what do you think would be the best ECU for a CRVTEC turbo setup?

2 of my friends with B20-VTEC setups are/were running Mugen P28 ECU setups. One went to a Stage 4 Hondata setup, while I swapped out the Mugen chip for a JUN chip (he’s running 11.5:1 cr) and it pulls extremely hard in VTEC. My choice, I’d stick with a chipped P28… seems to work very well.

could i run a p73 with my b16? thanks

P73 = ITR ECU = OBD-2 plugs

Newman,

What do you charge for just the chipped EPROM?
Thanks in advance.

boy it sure takes Newman a while to reply … :roll:

newman…how much do you sell pr4 non obd non vtec manual tranny ecu’s? i’m looking for one with something like that of the PYR program or mugen. I have a b20 non vtec all motor engine that I want to increase the redline to about 8500rpm. It has 10.5 compression and crower 403 cams and all crower valvetrain.

Thanks…

can we get a list of what everything means?
just like this;
P73 = ITR ECU = OBD-2 plugs

i’d like to be clear on all the coding and whats what.

yea… i need to learn more about ecu’s… im still a n00b… in ways… i find ways of lending a helping hand…
im getting a b16 (sir 1) (exactly to what it says), with tranny… and comes with a ecu… i want to learn how i can get top performance from everything with help from ecu…

thankz for all who help out…

not for me… im confused…
:think:

Has anyone had any experience with Hyperduck racing ecu people?

I thought whomever on the board was going to start making chips and selling to g2ic members since they had/have an emprom burner. I can easily solder it in myself…I’ve been soldering since I was like 6!

just that i only resurfaced this thread cuz it is almost one YEAR old I was bored looking through very old threads it was pretty much a joke- oh well- i guess it has turned itno something else now

i use a GSR P72 … in my LSVTEC … but i need a P28 because the P72 is killing me with the knock sensor and i f**** up 2 knocks sensor in 2 weeks!!!..

im tired of this…

i’ll change my P72 chipped with the Jun stage 3 program for some one that have a P28 chipped with a vtec program that engages a 4,4K…

the person with the P28 will pay the shipping
