first off I have a 92 gsr…
the b17a1 under the hood is dead as of 2 days ago.
MY questions are…
Where can I get a cheap b16a?
Will the old intake manifold/injectors/header and other stuff fit with the new engine?
will I have to buy the ecu or use my own?
I guess what I really need to know is will the shop that performs the install need anything else to do the job besides the engine?

Since your b17 is obd 1 and the b16 would be non-obd I would get a b16 and just use the block and head and transfer the intake, exhaust manifolds and all the misc. parts from your dead b17 to the b16. You can find jdm b16’s for $495-up and you can sell the unused parts for a little cash also.
It would be easier to install an OBD-I B16A. Then you could use your stock wiring and ECU.
What caused your B17A to “die”? This is the second one I’ve heard of this month…

well heres the story…
I was driving on the highway at a steady 80 mph…
pulled off onto a ramp and put it neutral to coast…
the car goes to 0 rpm…i try to start it and hear a horrible squeal…
anyways…it turns out the cam totally burned the hell out of the head…I’m trying to figure out how the heck it coulda happened…
Oil level was good
anyways…anyone recommend any shops that will sell me a b16a?..any websites?..phone numbers?
