That’s the same thing I thought… like WTF is up with the fake seats and fake, useless belt pads? Ummmm EBAY SPL! Then I read the “YES they are Mugen seats” and I was like oh lord the internet never ceases to amaze me.
i find the dumb useless fake belt pads very useful…i have quite wide shoulders, and without them i have to pass the belt under my armpit, otherwise it cuts the hell out of my shoulders and neck. i use the belt pad for a more comfortable and non-cutting-the-fuck-out-of-my-neck ride
yea dan, those pads do help for us with wide shoulders… 
ever since i got my bucket seat though, i’ve never needed em…
