Ok, I’ve been having this problem for a few weeks, and it’s bugging the hell out of me. My car refuses to start. It turns over just fine, and is getting more than enough power to the starter, and there is fuel getting to everything and the injectors are clicking, but I’m getting no spark. I tested everything, and found my coil was shakey at best, so I replaced it, but still no luck. I then replaced my distributor cap, rotor, and just today, the icm, still no luck. How exactly do you test the icm? I can’t find it anywhere in the manual, all the manual says to do is to test the wires going to it, I can’t find any info on exactly how to test it, and noticed some people mentioned that they tested it, so how does one do it, or is just testing the wires the only thing we can do without specialized equipment? I would assume that since the icm is new that it works. I’m just not getting any spark with a spark tester, no matter what, which suggests that there’s some other problem. Now the manual says to check the yellow/green wire between the icm and ecm (ecm refers to the ecu, right?), but first off, I have no yellow/green wire going to the ecu, or going to the ignition, just a white one, that goes where the yellow/green wire goes (at least according to the manual.) Which wire is it then on the ecu, and which harness on the ecu is it on (the top black one, the middle black one, or the bottom large white one?) I was unable to probe the harnesses to see which made continuity because I couldn’t find a probe small enough, but will pick one up tomorrow (it was also getting dark out, so I decided to quit.) All I can figure is that this is the problem, since everything else checks out ok, just no spark. Anyone else have any other suggestions as to what to check? This is driving me nuts, I am running out of stuff to check (I’m probably gonna just have to have it towed to the shop and let them deal with it, but I wanna give it one last try.) Thanks!
Ok, I looked through my haynes manual last nite (instead of the helms), and found that the yellow/green wire is only on 92/93 tegs, and on 90-91 tegs, it’s a white wire. Then I finally found a wiring diagram showing me basically what connects where to the ecu. I’m gonna check those wires today, hopefull the problem will lie with them.
