Ignition switch help

I did a search but found nothing on ignition switches:

Today i think my ignition switch fooked up on me. I was just driving normally, on my way to get my car inspected when it just shut off on me outta no where. Ive narrowed it down to the ignition switch because A) the car starts no problem, its just that when u take it out of the start position, the car dies. B) the power windows, and moonroof, only work when the key is in the start position, but the radio goes on in the acc position and the on postion, but shuts off in the start position. Anyone have any other ideas of what else it could be??

Oh yea. Will a ignition switch from an automatic work for a 5 speed???

Thanks for any input you may have. John

No ones got any input??? Please help me!!!

thankx

When you turn the key, do some of the dash lights come on? You say that when you are driving (as in the motor is running), the car just - out of nowhere - died?

Oz

It does sound like the ignition switch, you should be able to verify with a continuity meter, Use the manual as a reference. The Auto ignition switch has a interlock switch and solenoid on it. It will mount. Looks like it would work you’ll just have an extra 4pin connector dangling that you’ll have to tape up.
