Ok, here’s the deal…
Everything was working fine until I started to pull away from a light, there was a clunk and the car jolted, then nothing…
The engine runs, I can shift into any gear, but when I let the clutch out nothing happens…
The clutch pedal feels normal, but shifting has no effect…
So this is all I can think of:
the flywheel broke loose.
the tranny is screwed.
the pressure plate isn’t pushing the clutch onto the flywheel
Anyone know where I can get a jdm b18c5 for a good price?
you prolly busted either the diferential ring gear, countershaft cog, or mainshaft cog. I had the same thing happened and it screwed my tranny big time.
I would take it out and check the clutch assembly, before doing anything drastic. Also, if your transmission is messed up, I would worry about that first instead of doing an engine swap. What ever your problem with the transmission is, it will cost less to fix than a B18C5, no matter how good the deal.
I have this noise that I hear, whene the Clutch is in the nois go’s away, it sound like marbels, I change the gear oil to a thicker type but I stel get the noise, driving me nuts

does it make an odd noise at low rpms when driving? like when you just start from a stop sign (only noticed when going slow…not when quickly acclerating).
not sure if thats your problem. but before i did my engine swap my tranny was making odd noise. Sort of a clunk or thud, but a soft thud. At first it sounded more like it was something from under the dash, or possibly an axle problem. I’m pretty sure it turned out to the the input shaft bearing. Mine was completely shot, 3 or 4 of the ball bearings had fallen out and been ground up by the tranny. It still worked, but if another ball had fallen out, which it probably would have pretty soon i would have been screwed!

Ummm, I would change back to the 10W-30 that is recommended for our cars. When I bought my Integra, it would grind going into 3rd, I drained the gear oil that was in the transmission and put in the correct stuff, and it doesn’t grind anymore.

Check this out gang, I have gotin different opinions on the trany noise, they all point to the same conclusion, so I coul not find a used 90-93 LS trany, most used JDM tranys are hydro, not cable so it is very hard to find our trany, I am going to get the over hall for $800 all bearings are going to get replaced and put together with seals, I know thats allot of dough , but my fallt for jacking up . I raced a civic who thought he was bad ****, but I smoked him by 2 cars, dang I pay the price,
I know that some of you guys are looking for a trany, I found a guy in San Diego, Calif. who has one a S1 for $300 I don’t know how to put this in my car so I am not taking the challenge, I found the guy in the recycler

going that route is probably the best route. Not as cheap as getting another cable tranny, but it’ll be in a lot better condition and will last a lot longer. In the long run it’ll pay off.
Heellll yea, but every one that I talk to says that Jap. trany’s don’t come out the same because of all the suff that is in the trans. it’ not like the american trany’s, so I don;t know
thanks for all the advice guys

the jdm trannies are exactly the same. Of course the vtec ones have different gearing than the usdm LS trannies. But as far as quality, and all the parts…they are exactly the same.
you just have to be weary just as you would when buying any tranny used. you never know the condition its in till you put it in and find out (or tear it apart to look at the internals…which personally i would do).

So does anyone have suggestions as the best way to approach diagnosing what’s wrong, and if so, how to fix it? Happened to me this morning on the way to a job interview…:tsk:
First make sure your clutch cable is tightened, tighten it by hand. That’s first. Next, get somebody to press the clutch while you look where the clutch connects to the tranny and see if it’s actually engaging. You’ll see that black arm move up and down if it’s all good. If that’s not it, then it’s your tranny. Been through 2 of em and I could say that’s 99% probable it’s your tranny. :tsk:
