Im buying a used B18 engine, every one seems to sell the B16 swap or the B18C. Where can I find a good B18 engine and is there a difference if i get the B18A or B18B.
As far as I know B18B are the factory engines for G3 Integras. 90-93 Integras have B18A. However, there are 2 variants of the B18A. 90-91 B18A and 92-93 B18A. 92-93 B18A makes more power than the earlier B18A (approx. 10hp more @ the flywheel). B18B makes the same power as 92-93 B18A (140HP), however, I believe it uses an hydraulic tranny instead of cable.
I need someone else to confirm though,

P.S. If that is the case, it’s cheaper to buy the 92-93 B18A than the B18B (B18Bs cost roughly the same as B16s).
correction: the b18b makes 142hp, while the 92-93 b18a makes 140hp
basically the only difference in the b18b that you should know about is the fact that the head is different and has slightly larger ports (this is where the 2hp comes from).
pick up whichever you can find cheapest.
Cool, But what about the Oil pan, and Throttle Body? I have a b18a in my 90 LS. I look in catalog and all it says is 94-00 Integra B18 I want to buy a Morosso Oil pan and Pickup, I call them and they are like, “I really don’t know”. Also does the b18B Head bolt the b18a block? Will it make a difference. Please help
In '94 the b18b came out with 142hp along a 6lbs increase in peak torque to boot (torque - the true power measurement:p ).
When obd2 came out in '96 or '97 all of a sudden the brochure ssid 139hp and 124lbs…?? Later on (couple years later), they were rating them at 140hp again.
I had heard that they "detuned " them because therewas a decreased insurance rate for cars under 140hp. I dunno now, 'cause they went back up to 140hp.
I think those ±3hp numbers are balony tho; nobody’s butt could feel that
So what do I need to put the B18B Head on my B18a Block?? New head bolts?? Where do i run the Vacumn lines? I know i need my distrubter, and fuel injectors, but what fuel rail??? Also please tell me, can i use a b18b Oil pan?? Thanks:D
