is this clutch toast?

Ok, I though the clutch on the new B18 was decent but I took everything apart and now I dont know.

Heres the disk. It’s little groves are ~25 thou deep and on a brand new D series one i have sitting here they are ~30 thou. Is that ok? The rivits are closer to the edge on this one than the d series one, though.

Is this normal for the pressure plate to look like this? The flywheel looks about the same. There are no cracks on either.

Here are the fingers. They are a little worn. Is this normal?

I want to put this thing back in so I can get the motor in Eddy. Will this thing last me through a season of auto-x? I was going to buy a CM stage 1 but they are expensive ($365 from what I’ve seen) and I dont want to spend any more money on the car right now. After this next season of auto-x I will be pulling the motor (cake in eddy, took us 1.5 hr) and either rebuilding it or buying a B20. If I do leave this in I will be getting a new clutch (prolly CM s1) and a CM flywheel.

So my main question is would it be a bad idea to put this in for a year?

Ben

N e one know about clutches? BR? G2guru? 91integGS? good?bad? yes? no?

Ben

The clutch looks like it was driven hard. The hot spots on the pressure plate are pretty insane. The clutch disk itself looks pretty good. Like it has quite a bit of life left in it. The finger wear (the groove from the TO bearing) is normal after a few thousand miles on the clutch. It will work and should be okay, but no guarantees. You may suffer some clutch chatter due to the hot spots. Best of luck and let me know if you need anything else. I’m here to help.

Thanks man. i think I will put it back in and see how it is. Clutch chatter isnt a huge problem, its not going to be just a daily driver. So I think I will wait till next year and just get a CM clutch and flywheel. Thanks again.
