Issues wiith my driver side rear brakes

Yeah, there is an ok drift scene still left over from about 10 years ago. Other than that the FWD/honda scene is eh and it’s mostly about volkswagon here. If i liked to take my engine out everytime I change sparkplugs I’d get a subbie :stuck_out_tongue:

But yeah, I’ll definitely see if we can get something together. I’ll probably buy all the bushings and bearing parts myself then come pick em up and have someone press them. And got no problem with giving you the old ones!

I agree with everyone else that it is a bearing / hub issue. If the bearing is loose the wheel usually tends to tilt in like negative camber. If the wheel is tilting and the suspension is not the rotor will be tilting against the flat brake pads causing uneven wear, resistance and heat. If you lift up the car and grab the top and bottom of the tire and the wheel has any horizonal play the bearing / hub is worn out. Timken is a good brand of aftermarket bearing. They make bearing for Boeing, GE, Pratt& Whitney, Rolls Royce and Airbus. Aviation quality always exceeds automotive quality. I just replaced the hubs on my Excursion with Timken units bought from Amazon.

Thanks 2ndJenn, I believe you might be right in something causing problems overall. Basically, the car was in a minor collision on the driver’s side where he skimmed the gaurd rail. There wasn’t any frame damage from what I saw. However, the driver’s side fender was replaced and I’m sure bent or damaged, the bumper reinforcement was bent to hell (found this out when I replaced the bumper). and there is some minor dents in the rear corner panel.

Since the rear and front driver’s side bearings don’t seem to be happy I’m assuming they got messed up in the wreck. As even the smallest movement will make bearings go crazy I believe since they are so precise.

The car also pulls to the left, which I’m assuming is due to rubbing on the rotor or the bearings being messed up. And since it’s only on the driver’s side, it would pull me to the left. I saw another post on here I read recently with someone having the same problem AFTER alignment (my issue as well). So maybe I bad mouthed the shop too soon…

But I think you’re theory is right since I didn’t tell you about the driver’s side accident.

How long do you think I can go without seriously damaging other parts? I try not to be cheap about things but I’m about to start school and it will take me a little not only to get all the new parts (I like to replace as many bolts and nuts as possible to prevent rusting being here in the PNW), but to find time to replace them as it’s also my DD. I’m assuming I’ll eventually warp the rotor, eat through my brake pad causing uneven wear overall, and maybe seize the driver’s side wheel.

If it was in an accident the rear trailing arm could also be bent at the mounting point of the hub. Do you have uneven tire wear on the rear drivers side tire?

Thanks Jenn, and you’re pretty smart!

My tires are basically brand spanking new so I think it might be kind of hard to tell but I’ll give it a shot. I’ll also see if I can take pics of the rear trailing arm.

Honestly, that rear trailing arm is a BEAST. Could it really be bent? I’m pretty sure the damage is only towards the external bodywork and one of the head light brackets.

So I pulled two spindles from the junkyard and I’m ready to put the bearings on.

I’m gonna take it to a shop, but I’m ordering two sets of upper control arms with bushing, new lower bushings, and the front wheel bearings from NAPA.

Everything looks good and they look like good quality parts, however I would like to replace the wheel hubs as well…

I haven’t found any sources to purchase the new wheel hubs (seperate from the bearing). The only thing people sell are the REAR wheel hubs (with the bearing).

However, as I’m replacing damn near everything, I’d really like to replace the wheel hubs as well.

Problem is, nobody sells it. I did find one on ebay, however I’m worried it’s chinese trash and the studs will snap.

What do you guys think?

I also found these guys…

Man this forum is dead! Other than a local dude I hit up.

So I just had the bearing and bushings done. FYI, DO NOT buy the ebay front hubs, they were just ever so slightly too tall and did not fit.

I’m pretty sure it’s apparent with most of the options, but def. do not buy the ebay ones.

Other than that it looks like I’ll put these spindles on sometime this weekend and hopefully fix some problems!
