It begins! JDM B20 Project

I got my engine yesterday and dropped it off at my friends house. Today I started my b20 project. As you can tell, it needs some degreaser.

On a Lift

Converted to a Stand

Yucky intake and exhuast ports! Gotta clean these.

Very clean head though! Nice internals.

Nice, what year is it? Is it a USDM?

98 JDM

that intake mani’s a monster. Any idea what the plate dia in that throttle body is?

d

i compared it to the b18 throttle body and it is amazingly less in diameter! What a piece of ****. :stuck_out_tongue:

I picked it up for $725, just gave the guy cash so he didnt have to turn it in to Uncle Sam. He is real nice and he drives an S2000. Omg that car is hot.

You can get it for $750 right now, while the sale is still goin on. I look at the other b20s that were in there and they look good. Just got some salt on them from when they were shipped over. So its gonna be $750 + $80 for shipping. Hope that helps.

nice pics surge2k. so what do u think pretty easy stuff? when u pullin the motor sir!

Im going down there in Jan to pick up my b20. Can you specify you want the jdm b20, cause thats the one i want cause it has 9.6 comp and 20 more hp. thanks man. Any other tips about getting from them? TIA

GEN2GSR - Im pulling my old b18a and installing the beautiful beast in the beginning of January.

Daver - Ya dude it sucks. Plus it had a bunch of salt in it. LoL

g2deeznutz - When i went there, they were taking motors out of right hand drivers, so i think almost all their motors are JDM. I believe some are USDM tho. You need to specify that you want the JDM one. I did and the guy showed me the JDM mark on it. Some tips…i suggest that you tell him you will pay cash and dont want a recipt, that way it will be cheaper. Also, bring a truck because you will need one…and lots of rope.

Now i have a question for all you B20’s out there…since im rebuilding, do you think I can use most of the torque specs from the b18 helms manual? Since most of the stuff is the same…

Thanks man i’ll remember that. I plan on renting a uhaul or something to bring it home. I will be paying cash but what happens if you get a dud and no receipt. I know they test their engines and they gaurantee startup, but does that hold with no receipt. Thanks for the tips i apprectiate it

Well, i planned on building the engine up so he actually took off the valve cover for me and let me look at all the internals. The only thing that could be wrong is with the pistons and crank shaft which I am about to find out if its good. He told me he would still give me the startup warranty, but nothing else. You can pay $750 and get all those warranties the site talks about, just a difference in $25.
