What exactly do you need to do to fit the helical LSD in the 92-93 cable trans? Thanks.

Leo, i’m about to attempt that swap. I believe you just have to do a little grinding, and it should fit. i think .J. could give more details, but I think it’s basically just the issue of how much room is available.
The Gear in the B18C engine LSD is a large ring gear. All the rest of the vehicles are a small ring gear. What this means is that the ring gear tooth contact is the same. The inside where the differentiaL sits is larger. The diff in the B18C is a P80 where as the the rest of the cars is a PS1. This means all the YS1 trannys are a a PS1 (small gear). Yes you can install a large gear in a YS1 tranny. This would involve using a ring gear, bearings, ring gear bolts, and differential from a R-type. The only problem is that the R-spec (USDM) has a final drive of 4.4:1. The only tranny that uses this gearing is a 92-93 GS-R. So if you plan on using this gear in your LS YS1 you will also need a countershaft for a 92-01 GS-R or R-spec. As far as clearance you will need to remove a small amount of aluminum from the clutch case. This will not take away any structural integrity since this is already missing on the B18C trannys.
I would however recommend using a Quaife LSD. It is a direct fit. It uses the same bolts, ring gear, and bearings. It will also come with a lifetime warranty. Quaife gauranties the quality of their differential for the life of the vehicle under any conditions including racing. The only thing that could void the warranty would be improper install or having something else come aparts and damage the differential.
Both the R-spec and the quaife are a torque based differential.
