K20 DA's??? Anybody built one??

Good Luck MR Penny with the wrong Engine Mount!

Innovative suck

Yea, I was trying to keep it under wraps until I got a bit farther, but screw it! Haha

HA! :nana:
sexy!!!

send your VC’s to me for paint!!!
I’m not sure what I’m gonna do with it, but I definitely will if I go that route!

Can’t do much when they’re the only ones making mounts :frowning:
I’m not fretting it too much though, I can weld. What exactly was the problem you were having?

 Is it going in that shell?

I hate to sound like a downer, but why go through all the trouble and money involved with the K-swap (removing tranny mount, cutting hole for shifter box, axles, mounts, wiring, swap header, radiatior, etc.) only to install a sub-160hp K24A1 from a CR-V?

Seems like a lot of trouble for not a lot of power.

That depends if he is using the head of the K24A1! I doubt Mr penny has plans to keep this normal or mild!

The K20A/K20A2 head helps, but it’s usually swapped onto a K24A2 block from a TSX. The K24A1 block has a weak 9.6:1 compression ratio and a 6,500 RPM redline.

So Sexy Agazz…and im not talking about the K24 lol jp.

Its deff. something different. Knowing Agazzi Im pretty sure he’s going to make that thing worth while…I got faith in you mang! I like it!

Thanks for the buzzkill! Ha! But remember that hp rating is in a bone stock CRV. I/H/E, RBC, some TSX cams, and Kpro should net me hopefully at least 230. A TSX swap would have been ideal, but I picked this puppy up for $440, with papers, so that was definitely a deciding factor. I’m going to extract as much as I can from this set-up on OEM internals. I know I’ll end up throwing some TSX pistons in to bump the CR eventually, but I don’t want to already tear the bottom end apart before I even start. Either way though, this motor will be a good starting point for me. All those supporting mods you mentioned though are merely moot points. Removing trans mount is cake, not gonna need to cut any holes for a shifter box because I’m going to run a Hybrid Racing shifter, base RSX axle will spline into knuckles just fine, mounts are priced as any other B-series mount kit for the DA, I’m a welder so the header won’t be an issue, and neither will the radiator :). Everything on this project will be done by me, and if I don’t know how to do it, I’ll learn. And just to defend the swap a little more, a friend of a friend out here put down 196hp out of an A3 swap in a DC with just VTEC killers before and after A2 cams.

And here’s one of a 24A2 shortblock with 24A1 head, vtec killer setup and TSX cams:

A1 head with some VTEC killers, hmmm…

The 24A1 head flows just as good, if not better than a K20A2 head, so there’s really no need to swap heads. CR for this motor definitely is not what I want it to be though

Hehe, the $5000 body kit will be going on this car. I will be needing a hand real soon here, so you guys should be getting a call!

Kyle… Sounds like someone got money to burn… I’ll still stick to the b series in DA chassis

 Totally down for that agazz! anytime man.

there was a 22 or so page thread somewhere, where every 5th person swore that they “were saving for a KswaP y0!” and “you’ll see the prices will drop and everyone will be rocking kswaped da’s!!!”

I speculated that a glut of k-series mounts and other assorted k-series swap related parts would be for sale here and on ebay, I forgot factor in all of the usual “flaking”.

A.) Who cares. Give me some money, and I’ll build a car the way you want, if not, this is my shit son.
B.) I have a B17 I’m rebuilding for my daily. So it’s not like I’m anti-B in a DA. I’ve just always wanted a K powerplant, and I’m finally in the position to make things happen, so the ball is rollin. It’s a $300 shell anyways
C.) My main goal is just learn, have fun, and see what I can do. I’ve got some ideas in my head I’ll be trying out, but there won’t be a shaved bay or tucked lines on this one. I am a cheap fucker, so everything I’ve bought will be either used or dirt cheap, but I haven’t yet come up with a final objective for the build, so the budget can go up.

Silchuki14- How much do you have into your swap so far?

That seems to be pretty prevalent with DA’s especially. It’s kinda weird man!:dunno: Everybody probably gets broke before they finish or something

mrpenny sounds like he knows what hes doing… some people might not agree with throwing k’s in da’s but you have to be diffrent in some way??? yeah there are plenty of swapped da’s out there but just the fact that you see or hear about a KDA just makes you precum a little ahahahah lol well at least me…jk. down here in San Antonio there aint not one KDA… i wanna put SAN ANTONIO on the map and K is my way!!! lol

Have fun being on the map as a KDA.

I don’t understand yall…

Why are you knocking peoples builds? (not all of you just don’t wanna be a jerk and point people out, not my flavor man)

If someone does a build and makes something cool, and they like it, don’t talk shit or if you’re going to knock it use something called “consctructive critisism” or stfu.

KDA’s are cool. Not something i’d like to do at this point but it’s very uncommon and K’s have been known to make pretty nice power.

 to both of you.

Only the swap: around 5-6K. I’m broke like you so I tried to find my stuff used. I’ve got a lot of new parts though.

If you have questions, feel free to ask, mine is running but the car need some paint…

Summer here I come!

About Innovative: You will probally don’t have the right tranny mount. Look like they switched something in their kit. The 90-91 Mount come in the 92-93 one… I have a 90-91 and I got the 92-93, a friend of mine bought the 92-93 kit and got the 90-91 mount (Tranny side). I tried to fight with Innovative but they suck so we switched mount.

Good luck

:stare:

I agree. all that work and money and how fast is the car??

Let me see what the car looks like for that amount of money spent…

Paint Shop Soon.

Picture when the car will be ready.

I followed Silchuki thread on another forum and it is well put together. I would love to go KDA at some point. My cars needs other things right now though. One day though i would love to claim a DB1-KDA!
