loud ticking coming from distributor

It’s pretty loud, wondering what the heck it is. This is the first b-series engine I have had or heard, just wondering if that’s normal.

Take off your cap and check the rotor, make sure the screw is tight, and the rotor clears all the sensors, etc … are you sure it’s a ticking sound and not grinding? Grinding = distributor bearing is shot.

i thought the same thing but the dist. on my spare eng. is brand new and i still hear a noise round’ my dist. sounds like a loose nut or something to me.

My old distributor did that before the engine blew. I’m pretty sure the distributor bearing is shot, and will need to be replaced. (The engine blowing was unrelated.)
