LS B18, VTECH or B20???

Quick Question

I have a 91 integra ls the i want to modify,m alot of this is new to me though i have dabbled in automechanics somewhat. keeping in mind that i’d like to do all the work my self. what are the differences, preferences and or reccomenedations between the b18 engine i have now or upgrading to a vtech engine/ head, or this b20 i keep hearing about. also i’m trying to keep the cost out of the astronomical range.

Target (just throwing out numbers here) 200+hp, 190+ ft lb torque.

any help or advice will definitely be appreciated

Thanks

Ok here is three general questions I ask when I am left open with options for a customers car?

  1. How much are you wanting to spend?
  2. Is it a daily driver, weekend racer or full time racer?
  3. What are the future plans for the car?

With these three questions in mind, I must say that if you have a pretty penny saved up and want to do alot of future modifications then go with the Vtec it is a sick way to go. You get alot of ponies for the dollar and they are easy to upgrade. If torque doesn’t matter (in which Vtec’s Lack) and you have a good amount savedgo with the B20 it is really a great way to go good torque good HP and a great block and and engine at that that will take a boost like no other. If boost really isnt in the future of the car then go with a LS/Vtec. It can be boosted but you will spend far to much to get to handle boost than that of the B20, B18A/B or even the B series Vtec engines. All these are relatively easy to do for the DIYer. If you have any questions email me and I can help you out and give you some resources for all of the above for the DIYer
