main relay

What about when you use a jumper wire from black/yellow to the fuel pumps yellow/black, make sure it is the correct yellow/black, the yellow/black that makes the relay click is the wrong one, that is injector power, it should be 12V+ already when ign switch is in run, [or start].
BTW. do this with the relay plugged in.

Come to think of it, if the ign. switch is on and you jump from black/yellow to a yellow/black and you feel/hear the relay click would indicate the injector relay is the problem.

You need to plug in the relay, use a jumper wire from black/yellow to yellow/black w/red dots. turn ign. on and try and start the car.

maaaaaaaan… started right up like “what took you so long to start me, I’ve been waiting to be driven…”

so I’m guessing that if I were to take the relay apart and re-solder the connections it should work again? Or should I just drive with a jumper between those two connections? I’ve been calling around (napa, advance, etc) and no one seems to have a MFR in their computer, I was going to try and pull one from a local junkyard, but it closed before I could get to it…

Yes, slide the card out and re-solder all the connections, then try it again, [BTW it’s called a “PGM-FI Main Relay”]

If you still have problems it may be the relays themselves, replace the unit.:whisper: 94

Soooo… I went to my dad’s house (he’s an electronic technician) and disected the unit with him… we took the the whole thing apart, sanded all the contacts, redid all of the solder points and wiped off all the flux…

I came back home, put the relay back in and it started right up first try without a jumper wire…

Thank you so much for your time and patience, I really appreciate all of your help!
