Thats not the point of this mod. It is to slide the shock down further into the fork to gain more travel. The pic I posted doesnt show up anymore but you could see that the DC shocks arent any shorter than the DA shocks.

Your other option is to purchase ground control upper strut mounts. They are designed to increase strut travel and are made for both the front and the rear. I purchased a set in pewter color for $85 shipped from Ground Control directly. They are exellent and have made my ride feel simply amazing. No more clunking suspension, no more banging upper control arm.

The upper control arm can still hit. The only fix for that is to cut holes in the shock towers like shea did. But yeah, those GC hats do pretty much the same thing as the DC fork mod.
