i am currently putting together a build project on a 94 b18b ls to go into my 90 teg here is what i plan on doing
eagle H-beam rods
arias low compression pistons
golden eagle block guard
oem rod bearings
oem crank
new oem water pump
new timing belt
oem oil pump
arp head studs
block will be sent out to machine shop and checked and honed
head will be sent out and checked. port and polish and 3 angle valve job new seals
350 cc injectors
walbro 255 fuel pump
safc
profec b boost controller
boost gauge
egt gauge
t3/t4 turbo
full race manifold
21/2 down pipe
hks bov
tial wastegate
ok what do you guys think? im on a budget so this is about the limit. what hp gains do you think i can produce safely and reliably. how many pounds of boost can i run without thinking twice im hoping for low-6psi mid-10psi high-15psi or can i run more? i plan on getting it dyno tuned when i finish just wondering what i can be looking forward to! also what do you guys think it will run at the track with full interior? 1/4. so let me know!
i would get a type r oil pump instead of oem ls
i dont think 350’s and 15psi would go, u might max those out
450’s or 550’s would be good
safc get rid of that and go get turboedit for ur ems
u didnt say anything about a intercooler so i think 15 psi and no cooler BOOM
other than those items theres a few more stuff u have to get but i think ur gonna break ur buget.
intercooler $130 shipped CCA
fpr $130
vacum manifold $20
t-bolt clamps $5 for 2.5"
ngk spark plugs colder ones $10each
msd5 or 6 $170
msd blaster $60
msd cap $30
intercooler piping kit $165 i think from tunertoys.com
oil line kit $85
gm 3 bar map sensor and harness $100
i know stock igntion can handle up to 300 hp but msd would give peace of mind, thats what im using. Your stock map sensor can only hold up to 10.8psi,
so to effectively boost to 15psi u definately need an EMS. Look up turboedit for obdo tuning or ask Xenocron on the boards here
dont rush on ur build take ur time dont get antsy and blow ur motor up
some of the priceing may be off a lil but its close
hey what site are those clamps, msd box, & msd cap priced from?
also would you know anything about head work?
I’m building a ls turbo and besides P/P, and 3 angle valve i’m not sure what are the correct spings to purchase?
getting an upgrade valvetrain is always better so u can rev past ur stock revlimit but u have to know if ur turbo is makeing power up to or past ur rev range.
if u read about most of the turbo’d guys in hear i think they upgraded there valve train some also ran the car stock and reved it stock, it is all in the tunning and that is a big chunk of money its $100 hr on dyno where i live
and also the money to pay ur tunner
yeah i’m not too worried about dyno time…i got a set amount aside specifically for the tune. its just this valve springs…not sure whats the best suited for ls turbo
with the exception of the 3 bar map sensesor and the msd stuff, everything else was planned on being put in i considered that stuff standered. but anyways i planned on getting a missing link. i don’t know about the ignition stuff. i have a friend with the same setup pushing 15 pounds untuned it holds up fine but i do like everyones suggestions. also what is this (turboedit) you speak of you say its for obdo cars sound interesting, you also say better than a safc, y is it better? im not saying your wrong, cause your probly right but whats the differance? thanks your help is very appreciated. other thn that if i the msd stuff what hp can i get out of it reliably and what psi? i want to run 15psi occasionally and at least 7 constant what do you think?
dont get a full race manifold, especially if you are on a budget as you said. even though they are damn sexy, you can get another functional equal length manifold for half the price.
go to 3" with the downpipe if at all possible (even if you have to notch the crossmember a lil bit).
dont get any injectors smaller thant 450s, and im gonna recommend 550’s.
as someone already mentioned, go with type r oem water and oil pumps.
ive heard mixed things about the profec b, so i would look elsewhere.
lastly, dont use the safc, get a rom program or some form of programable ems. hacks blow up cars sooner or later, so its better to avoid it. take your time and do it right, its worth it in the long run
