My turn at a mini bulid thread.. 93 DB1

well I thought since I was going through all this to get this car all done back together by july (getting married) it seemed fitting that I do a little timeline/build thread for whoever might care

Well This is my 2nd 4dr, My first one was sold to mebarsh back in december as it was a full on project I sorta just lost money for. I had shaved that bay and done most of the body work and was largly ready for paint.

Long story short I had another 2dr and two years ago decided to get another 4dr since there more my thing. Picked this up From a lady in DC who hadn’t really driven it in a few years due to living int he city. only had 114,000 miles on it and seemed really nice

well fast forward a year and half, the car has been screaming to be painted forever, problem was I really couldn’t decide on a color, I have always loved aztec green but it seems everyone says that should only be on Db2’s well I finally decided I didn’t care and picked up the paint last week

The body of this thing seemed good, boy I was wrong, I ended up entirely redoing both quarter dog legs from previous bad body work
passenger side had a rocker put on, had to redo most of that body work THEN entirely striped two doors and started over, and threw out to doors in favor of two original painted ones I had.
Man do these doors suck to get straigh, old honda thin sheet metal is a pain in my ass.

Check out some pics, I don’t have any of mid body work but some primer and sealer shots and then the jams painted

looks like a good start i am also doing a 4 door they are becoming the thing now it seems

Im glad to see you’re doing a 4 door. Wish you would have done the other one but its in good hands with matt.

yeah Im on my way with my 4dr also…she should be getting a fresh coat of Jasper green & pickin up a full black interior conversion next weekend (if it’s still available! :cross:)

GL man…keep us updated

Nice. Another DB1 getting a new coat of paint. I’m expecting mine back this thursday! Man am I excited. GL!

these are the only honda, aside from the SUVs, that i would own as a four door.

something about the styling is so fitting, those angle drop back windows look so sweet too. i wish they had kept with that design instead of splitting windows on back doors like they do now.

is this the white db i saw when i pick up the other db? if so sweet that your already starting on it.

yea man this is the white one, started this whole ordeal basicly beginging of may, and unless i get some other work to do it should be done by early june. car had alot of previous bodywork I ended up totally redoing but shes getting there, I never color changed a 4dr before, needless to say, INVOVLED lol

its always nice when you pop off a panel to reveal what someone passed off as “craftsmanship”.

i got a folder full of all the paper work for all the services ever done to my car, found out it was in a rollover in 96 that cost the insurance company over 8k to fix, its 3 pages of line items (labor, parts, etc).

i know how you feel redoing old crap, i finally gave in to rust repair due to improper finish work and decided to use this shell as a rally beater, i hope you dont end up having to do that with yours, i really like DB1s.

four doors=more whores!

i drove an 02 Jaguar X-type in my last year of schooling, this mantra held true.
ah how i miss that car. sedans are just so appealing. i dont know if its the M5 that did it to me or the AMG E55, eitherway, something about a sedan outperforming coupes makes me tight in the pants.
ill even let off and let sedans beat me so that i can feel that much better about them.

yea these cars tend to come with baggage, it was ok to redo the work at least now I know everything thats been done and i was able to strip off multiple layers of paint so now only the bodywork is the underlying surfaces

man, shits getting outta hand for sure, that car is nuts

well got the new hood welded up the emblem holes, got the other stuff about ready to paint cut, that should happen tomorrow, hopefully ill get some new pics up this weekend
