I just found out that one of my axle boots is cracked, but there’s no clicking noise yet. anyway, can I still drive it hard or will i screw up my axle? also, will i need to replace the axle? if so what is a good brand?
If it just cracked and there isn’t any foregin debris in there yet you can probably just replace the boot. The boot’s are like 10-15 bucks. But I would just replace the axle. I got a lifetime replacemet axle from advanced auto parts down the street from my house for like $75. The aftermarket ones like this don’t last as long as honda OEM parts but since it’s lifetime warranty I can just take it back, and I do the labor myself. Once the boot cracks it only takes a little while before the clicking begins.
Ok, can I still drive it…u know? :burnout: ![]()

Yes, you can still drive it. However, I STRONGLY Recommend you have that fixed ASAP.

my boots been torn for…lets see… a little over a year-daily driven. it just started clicking about a month or two ago, im fixing it on sunday though.![]()
The guy at the shop said I should get it replaced soon, but I don’t hear it clicking yet, so I can still drive .:burnout:![]()
just drive it till you get a chance to fix it…they will last a while even if they are clicking… i went 6 months on my prelude with it clicking bad…and my teg went 2 months like that, but i changed it out when i did the engine…
hahaha my boots been ripped for over a year, theres a clicking sound and i have been procrastinating for life.
don’t bother replacing just the boot … the entire axle (reman) is only $90 or so, plus your core axle. Once the grease has all spewed out, the bearings will start to go, and the clicking will begin … at that point, you are in pretty desperate need of a new axle ;).
Yes you can still drive it, someone i know autocrossed on a broken cv boot for like 7, or 8 months then it finally started clicking, but try to get it fixed so u don’t have to worry, and try not to speed on it
id get the OEM kit from honda they offer everything from the grease to the boot to the clamps etc etc just about everything except the axle CV joints and the rubber thing that cuts down on vibration (i guess). kits are damn exspensive and do BOTH BOOTS. its a waste to just do the outer say if its the only one busted. the others will go out sooner than later. i did the driver side and the next week the other went out. as freak as that is it happends all the time im sure.
