Need help/tips/advice on removing intake manifold

Hey all, I’ve got to replace my intake manifold gasket and I’ve got to do it in one night. I’ve got my Acura manual to lead the way, but first hand experiance is always better. Which bolts should I start with, what is going to get in my way and how do I work around it, which tools work best and so on.

I’ve got a B16A head I can study to understand what I’m groping on the back of my head. I just want to make sure I’m not going to run into any problems.

Steve, the big things to remember are to remove the two 12mm bolts that go up from under the intake manifold bracket into the bottom of the intake manifold. Many people forget these. Also, before removing the intake manifold, make sure you have everything disconnected. And don’t forget the hose and harness on the IACV valve. Only one of the hoses on the IACV need to be pulled. The other one goes to the TB. Call me if you run into any problems. Oh, and make sure you have a gasket scraper handy. You’re going to need it to remove the old intake manifold gasket.

Thanks Dan. I’m gonna buy a scraper for sure, I’ve read too many horror stories of people trying to hunt down vaccume leaks and its just their old gasket messing with them.

Look for an email in about 5 minutes. I’ve got a few more questions for you.

Thanks,
-Steve
