Need help w/ choosing clutch

I got 91 rs, i/h/e
My stock clutch is burnt, I want to put in a performance clutch. I was looking at clutchnet clutches but i don’t know what stage to pick and if anybody got recommendation for a good clutch let me know. I need one badly.

go to cluchcityonline.com

Thy shoulld have what you need there. Specifically, the Exedy organice disc with racing pressure plate, best clutch you can get for the money.

another member is selling a clutch masters stg3 on the for sale board… those are popular.

there are many good options out there: clutchmasters, act, centerforce, exedy

but there are two in particular that, if you’re on a budget, i’d go for. Either the exedy or the clutchmasters stage 3.

Like speeddaddy pointed out, boostinq is selling the CM III clutches for $300 shipped cod (does not include bearings or alignment tool). He’s delt with others on the board and i’ve heard nothing but good about him.

Another option is to pick up an exedy from www.clutchcityonline.com. They run 299.50 shipped (includes bearings and alignment tool) for the 90-91 clutches, and $269.50 for 92-93 clutches.

If i can scrape up the extra $$ I plan on getting an exedy for my buildup. Mainly due to price, if i had an extra $50 or so i might consider the CM III.

I rather get the Exedy. Do a search they are pretty good clutches for the price. Can’t go wrong and Toda and some other jdm comp uses the same comp. Someone also stated that honda uses exedy clutches for some of their cars. But thats what I heard.

Ive seen the Exedy clutchplates show up in a couple of different brands of clutch kits. No complaints here, nor by the cars owners that Ive installed them in. I drove the Accord I put one in for 2 months. Seems like it worked really well.

so clutchnet cluthes are out of the question?

and what about the increase in power? how will that go about

I found some clutchmasters stage 0 for 90-91 integras for 220 + shipping. For other stages, just email autopartsdiscount@yahoo.com

not to be stupid or anything but what exactly would a better clutch like these do to the car, the function mainly? I would love to get one to add to my cars performance?

Stage 0 is a stock replacement, you don’t want that.

Anyone have any experience with a CM Stage 1 clutch?

What about the aluminum CM flywheel?

i have the stage 1. i am very happy with it. if all you are going to run is basic boltons i feel that this is the perfect clutch.

i have had it for 2 years, i drive very hard and no slipping yet.
at the track, with my rather large slicks i am launching at 65-7k…:stuck_out_tongue:

Awesome, sounds good for me. I got i/h/e plus cams and stuff, so I guess that is all technically “bolt-ons” still. No FI or NOS. So the Stage 1 should do fine.

I know some people are down on ACT clutches, but when i ordered my ACT, I ordered a street/strip, and they accidentally sent me a 6 puck. Everyone said it would be hell to drive, but to be honest, i have nothing but good things to say about it. Even with it being a 6 puck, it is super easy to drive, so I’m sure the street/strip would be like butter.

 im not really sure on that one man. i really dont have any experience with nitrous. i would contact CM and see what they have to say…or just:read:

clutchmasters stage III

just remember, you get what you pay for… that goes especially with clutches.

i have a friend that is running a stage 3, but he only has basic boltons. it is fairly streetable, but total over kill.

if you need a clutch that will hold that much power, go for it.

How come nobady has mentioned Centerforce I have a stage 2 and Its great. Pedal is the same, and the holding is good, but if i was going to upgrade again, and get a dualfriction, the pedal is supposed to be very close to stock and I would like more bite and feel ( personal preference) Centerforce:up:
