need help with overheating issue

ok this is bugging the shit out of me…i just installed my turbo setup and i’m having a issues with cooling being the main one

the problem is the faster i go the higher my needle goes…the first few days i could go about 70mph before it would really go up there now i can bearly go 50 without it damn near touching the red…

i not sure what the problem is… i set the fan to run all the time (my rad is a civic half by the way)

i’m going to bleed the coolant sys and install a new rad cap…i didn’t have a coolant issue before this damn install so please give some opinions…thanks

I would install a lower temp thermostat or at least replace yours since you have the half rad, and or buy a fluidyne half rad for a civic. My 2 cents.

Whats your setup and what have you done to keep it cool so far?

Have you thought about:
New Rad fluid
New thermostat?
New water pump?
Does you fan ever kick on?
Aux fan?
wrap or coat DP, Mani or turbo?

dp is wrapped, oem water pump and new rad juice, i bought an lower temp therm and thats going to go in also…i just changed the rad cap and i have the run running constant…i was told about putting an add. fan on the front…what a fan from a civic or integra?

the turbo and mani is not wrapped…if thats part of my problem then i’ll wrap that now.

update: replaced tha t.sat with an lower temp…it’s runs lower during idle…

i did a pull on rt1 and this is what happened…

it s running fine…past 60 past 70 and 80…then i downshifted to 4 and the damn needle jumped to the red wheb i get to the ligh in starts to drop so the same thing is happening just taking longer

i used the dual core civic radiator from the auto civics and the dohc ones and its fine…i dont know if u got the single or not but mine dont overheat.

Do you smell the sweet smell of coolant? Are you loosing any coolant at all?Sometimes a very small lead can cause you to loose enough to get a bubble in the head. After your next cruise session, wait till the engine cools, then remove the cap and see if the level has dropped in the radiator.

They were talking about a pusher fan, which can be had at most auto parts stores. These fans can be pushers or pullers depending on your needs and are thinner than stock.

it’s single core how much bigger is the dual core i don’t have alot of room to spare…a fluidnye is out of the question…won’t fit without getting a new mani and dp…

no there’s no coolant leaks or anything like that…the level seems to stay the same…

what is left to check… i replaced rad cap, therm.sat, and i have the fan runnin constant…

no everyone is running a second fan with the half rad so it’s has to be some reason that i haven’t covered …

its not much bigger it just has the 2 outlets for the automatic cooler that need to be bent back.
My only problem is finding some brackets to fit i’ll take some pics if u need.

just out of curiousity is you timing set up correct that would cause your exhaust gas temps to raise. another thing i did on mine is i put a 12" puller fan on the radiator (tranny side) and a 10" pusher fan on the opposire side and have had no problems since i put the two fans on. i also have my fan wired in to come on when the car is on. so they are on all the time.

I’m thinking you might wanna recheck your tune. What does your EGT look like when your under full boost?

Its interesting to hear so many different cooling problems/solutions for our cars. I’m running a single 12" FAL setup to push. Thats it, nothing else, no stock fans, no bigger radiator. I put a new water pump in before I started the project also.

So far I’ve not had a single problem with temps.

yeah it runs fine in the city but on the highway i get starts to boost it’s goes up…we think is an air flow problem…i hav a single core civic half rad…i’m going to get a del sol dual core and add a 14 inch slim fan to the front side…that should do it
