Need suggestions for body stiffing

Hi guys,

I hope this question helps out other people

anyway I have a 90 GS, I wanted to know how I could stiffin up the rigidity of the “frame” besides strut tower bars. I have abs, as well, and I can’t find one for the front. I’ve heard that a bushing kit works well but also I’ve heard that they squeek after awhile.
This is my suspension setup: koni yellows with neuspeed sport springs, ingalis camber plates, rear obx strut bar.

Thanks for the help, oh could you give me a rough est of total costs. I have about $1000 to spend

I hear that some ppl use “mono foam”

What they do is they strip the carpet and panels etc etc…

THen u spray it between the frame areas INSIDE ur cabin…Its hard to explain but I hope u get the idea…

The “mono foam” is light weight but as it cures its as hard as a rock…

Only downside I hear is that if u get into a car accident the shizz is hard as heck to clean up…

Good luck to u

Camber plates?

Anywho… if you’re looking to improve handling, you should think about getting some sway bars. I seriously doubt that you’re generating enough flex that you need to stiffen your chassis beyond strut bars… .

what are the alignment specs? do you know…

you can adjust your alignment specs to increase the over all stability of the car… down side is that you wiil be buying tires often.

you can get polyurethane bushings…
get better tires for better handling…

i have a 92 w/abs and i have a greddy front strut bar.

Sway Bars

I would say with out a doubt the Sway Bars make the biggest diff in handling. I have a set of ST (Suspension Techniques). I think i paid around $200 for them. I here Strut tower bars make almost no difference and really are for more show than anything but i’ve never tried them maybe you can enlighten me on that.

I have a set of Koni Yellows and some Skunk2 Coilovers along with the ST’s (it’s dropped about 2" i think). the car is rock soild now i’m thinking of a lower Tie bar next i have a bit of over steer that i’m hoping that will clear it up.

I have a set of Ingall’s on the front with a 2" drop do you think i will need a rear Camber kit ??

Any opinions are welcome…

The oversteer is from the rear sway bar you put on… try a smaller one. And yes my chasis flexs more than a strut bar helps… they are supposed to increase rigidty up 17% (if u buy one that actually does something) 2nd gen tegs have about as much structural rigidy as a wet noddle. The 3rd gen tegs are at 40% over our cars. I race my car and have noticed quite a bit of flex from the frame itself… so much so that its annoying me.

camber plates are the same as “camber kits” I have my car dropped 1.5 to 1.75 inches. You cannot adjust the camber on our cars, so to maintain proper wear and balance on the street I bought these plates so I can get my car properly aligned.

Anyway …GURU!!! Can you help me??? Anyone else have ideas?

Show me a picture of your plates and I’ll return my Ingalls camber correction kit for some camber correction plates.

BTW: what kind of racing are you doing??? Beyond strut bars you’re welding or bolting on butresses, bars, a roll cage, and tack welding chassis seams.

inlinefour.com carries them, its the same thing different word…

i race for money down in the pine barrens near exit 63… there are miles and miles of roads in the middle of nowhere, I am not a drag racer…

i have a gs w/ abs…so are there any strut tower bars that fit? besides greddy? i dont’ wanna buy an over expensive one…my car isnt’ worth that much. just looking for something to improve the flexing a lil.

an ractive strut bar fit on my '90 GS w/ ABS. I just had to remove one little bracket near the strut tower that was holding some wires (left the wires there, but took the bracket off. Obviously the ractive bar isn’t going to do quite as much as a GReddy or Neuspeed bar, but I noticed some difference (quicker lane changes, etc) and they’re quite cheap

The greddy strut bar is only $100… thats nice and cheap… if you get one of those generic strut bars (like the ones that sell for 20-40 bucks on ebay) its basically a waste… they don’t do anything.
