This may not be the right forum for this thread, but I’ll try anyway… I just bought and installed a Kenwood Z727 head unit. When I turn on my lights, the display dims, but the buttons do not light up. Has anyone had any similar problems with new stereos?
Are those buttons on the Z727 supposed to light up and if so, did you hook up the OEM illumination/dimmer wire (red/black) to the right illumination wire (usually orange/white) of the Z727? Is that the right Kenwood model number because I couldn’t find it on Kenwood’s website…

then u hooked it up wrong…check your wires
thanks guys! I will look for the red/black wire. I used an aftermarket harness, and all it had was a dimmer wire that is orange… I’ll look at the factory harness and make sure it goes to the red/black wire! And yes, it is the correct model number… it’s difficult to find on Kenwood’s site, but much easier to find on crutchfield.com
