Hey, I’m about to put a system in my teg. May I ask what everyone’s opinions are on what products are the best, what to avoid, and what you have/ what would you put in your ride. I’ve been considering an exeleron deck, infinity kappa perfect/ audiobahn components up front, decent 2/3 ways in back, don’t know bout what subs and amps to get.
Thanks,
T
What total price range are you looking for? What kind of music do you listen too? What kind of bass do you like?
How many times are we going to see a post like this in the sound forum?! I’m not agitated or anything because if I was, I wouldn’t be posting but I’m wondering how much homework do people actually do?!

I hear ya man. I haven’t had work in this whole week and part of last week because I have mono, so I’ve been on g2IC about 24 hours a day researchin and such…and all I see is these kind of posts and I answer them all.
ok then i guess i will be the only one to help ya man, i dont really know much about stereo but i will tell you what i have, i have a sony cdx650 deck, the knd that flips down and blsck in front, explode speakers, all four, and two 12 pioneer IMPP “VCCS” series powered by two american pro 600 watt each amps. to say the least, it sounds clean on all types of music and i had to turn the bass boost off the amps cuz it was to much bass on the rap, all in all i spent about $900 bucks not bad. good luck! ![]()
i hope that helps, by the way ur set up sounds like it would sound pretty clean, the kappa speakers are good.

:werd: Yah, I hear ya on that. But I’m talking about on the internet. I’d never buy from a shop because they are usually way overpriced.
Now. with $1500, you can have one BADAZZ setup.
Headunit:
#1. Pioneer Premier DEH-930 /$345 /www.ebaymotors.com needs no explanation. One of the best HU’s for the money
#2. Alpine CDA-7893/$280/www.ebaymotors.com also needs no explnatation. Also needs no explanation. One of the best HU’s for the money as well.
Fronts:
#1. Rainbow Dreamline 6.5’s/$130/ www.ampmanaudio.com Some awesome component speakers and are VERY high end. You’ll most likelly need to modify the doors to get them to fit
#2. Image Dynamics CTx6 6.5’s/$150/ www.sounddomain.com Awesome coaxils you can just drop in the stock locataion. Check out the reivew for them.
#3. Crystal Cxe615 6.5’s/$70/ www.sounddomain.com Also awesome drop in coax’s.
Fronts amp:
#1. JBL 180.2/$135/ www.ebaymotors.com (90 x 2 rms @ 4ohms) Clean, reliable,cheap and underrated. Can’t go wrong. Actually closer to 110 x 2 rms.
#2. JBL80.2/$85/www.ebaymotors.com (40 x 2 rms @ 4ohms)
Same as above actually about 55 x 2.
Rears:
none. rears ruin imageing
Subwoofer:
#1. resonant engineering xxx 12./ I beleive they are about $350,call them for exact pricing because the prices on their website are not the real ones/ www.respl.com ONE BAD MAMA JAMMA. Just take a look at the pics and specs. This sub will take over 1600watts rms and be extremelly loud and clean. It performs as well as it looks.
#2. resonant engineering HC 15/ around $300/ www.respl.com Again. look at he pics and specs and you’ll mess yourself.1200watts rms power handling and just look at it. Sounds as good as it looks
#3 (2) resonant engineering SE12’s/ around $350 for the pair/ www.respl.com. 600 watts rms a peice power handling.
#4. digitial designs 3512/ $310/ www.ddaudio.com DD are the gods of competetion and are absolutelly awesome. I’d choose the resonant engineering or “RE” HC over that though, because they are pretty comparable…but the HC is cheaper.
Subwoofer amp:
#1 and only, JBL 1200.1/$285/www.ebaymotors.com , www.thezeb.com. Underrated at 1200 x1 @ 1 or 2 ohms. Actually about 1400 watts rms.
Other:
-Ported 3/4" MDF enclosure made to subs specs. No other subsitutions. It has to be 3/4" MDF and ported ;). Make it youself: $50 by doing searches on www.sounddomain.com Or email me with what you want and I can make you a awesome custom one.
-2 guage wire kit /$75/www.ebaymotors.com
-8 guage wire kit /$35/www.ebaymotors.com
-
HU install kit and wiring harness/ $25 / Best Buy or Circuit City
-
subsonic filter. Is a absolute must with ported enclosores to ensure you don’t blow it. I suggest the pheonix gold basscube. It has on along with many other usable features. You can pick one up used for about $100 on www.ebaymotors.com
If you were to buy the most expensive of everything, you would be right at about $1750 shipped because the prices don’t include shipping. Any combinatation above would be incredible. With that, You could have the best daily driver system that money can buy. It would sound absolutelly amazing in every aspect. Good luck bro
coo
Tks a lot adamm, some like some nice stuff i’ll check it out but it sounds great to me and looks like some stuff i’ll buy
btw, just to ask what setup you got in your ride?
Thanks
T
For JBL 1200.1 also check out at BSLESS.com. They currently have it at 270.00 plus free ground shipping and a set of earphones, normal shipping fee is 10.00.
Hey bro, no problem. I spent about an hour doing all of that for ya:), so I’m glad to see I helped you out.
I kind of have a little hold me over system untill I get my new stuff. I sold it to mod for my teg.
Anyway, I just sold this setup:
-HU:Pioneerr DEH-9300
-Fronts:Crystal CSX615’s in the doors
-Fronts Amp:JBL 180.2 powering the fronts
-Sub: DD 9012 (they don’t make them anymore, they were the series right below the 9500 sereies and bad arse)
-Sub Amp:JBL 1200.1
-2.9ft^3 ported enclosue, 45 SQ in. of port, tuned to 38 hz
Right now I have the following:
HU: Pioneer DEH-5200
Fronts:Cerwin VEga HED 162’s
Front amp:JBL 80.2
Sub: DD 2012
Sub amp: an older 250 watt MTX amp
-2.1ft^3 ported fiberglass enclosure with 30 SQ. in. of port tuned to 38hz. The box including the sub wieghs only 26 poounds!!! Just to give you an idea how light that is, a 1.2 cubic foot, 3/4" MDF enclosure (a third of the size of the fiberglass one because the 2.1ft^3 I listed above doesn’t include the extra .5 ft^3 that the port and bracing took up)… weighs 36 pounds with the sub in it. So the fiberglass enclosure is three times the size of the MDF one, while being only 2/3 the weight. Sorry for the rambling, I’m just siked about the box :).
I am actually VERY pleased with the setup especially considering how light it is on my car…and how light it is on my wallet. Are you ready for this…the entire setup I listed above (my temporary setup, not the older one above that) cost me a whopping $330!!! Including every last cent I spent on it… $330. I usually find some deals on the internet forums, but I’ve never found deals this good. I bought most of it used, but everything is like brand new and it POUNDS and everything is soooo nice. I was thouroghly happy when I put it all in because it exceeded my expectations. I love it
Future setup:
Pioneer DEH-930 (I absolutelly love it and would never change accept for maybe that Alpine)
Cerwin Vega V mag 6.5"s (you should look into them too, great speakers)
JBL 180.2 for fronts
DD 3512 (I’ve got the money and weighs a lot less than the RE HC 12, that’s the only reason I’m getting it over the RE)
JBL 1200.1 for sub
Same fiberglass enclosure I have now. Should be a very light setup and obliterate most setups people payed 2-4 times more for, not because they are stupid by any means, but because they simply don’t know any better. Hopefully you’ll take my advice and be very happy with your system.
coo
nice setups, espectially for the price. coo wit the fiberglass. did you buy the products for it local or over the internet too. got any pics of it ??
Thanks
T
btw you have all the amps jbl , so what do ya think of that new GTI stuff from JBL??
Nah, I just bought the fiberglass stuff at walmart. Don’t have a digi cam so no pics
I just got done making it last weekend and I still have to bondo and paint it. I’m not farmiliar with the new GTI stuff so I couldn’t tell ya.
