no needle glow?

I just installed my indaglo guages but the needels dont glo, what should I do?

Umm, our stock needles don’t glow - they are lit from above. Did you remove the overhead lights when you installed your indiglos?

Has anyone ever put like some ultra violet lights in the top of the cluster where the stock whitish-pale green lights go and painted the needles with a paint that reacts to the UV? Seems like a cool idea to me. Anyone have pics or experience?

no I didnt but I dont know whats wrong

Just use nail polish to CAREFULLY AND PRECISELY paint em whatever color you want, makes em easier to see

HTH

if you didn’t touch anything the lights above the cluster should still work. did you try messing with the dimmer?

i have been thinking about doing that too. wonder how it would look.

Just see if you could find a small blacklight…that’d look cool

My main concern is finding a light that won’t light up the white gauge faces much. I have reverse indiglos, and I think I’m gonna paint my needles silver and put blue covers on the overhead lights, so the gauge faces are a little blue, and the needles will be really dark.

The overguage lights already have a blue cover (mine did at least)

I’d say you should try and get some blue paint for the bulbs or some deeper blue for the light to go through

hey dude i did this. It was a long project but the guage needles are actually visable now and ohh damn does it look sweet!
It was well worth the while. I don’t know how to put a link to this so go here–> Generation 2 Integra Club Forums > ASSISTANCE > Interior > my guage install.

Dispite what the pictures look like it is really bright and it looks so nice. I have a full how too DIY file I made if your interested. check out that old post of mine though for more information. and there is a link to pictures:p
rock out

what about those needles on eBay for the 94+ that glow could we use 'em for our cars? the needles look about the same, two long, two short.

If you attempt to take the needles off at all you will be replacing the whole guage assembly because they break off and are not repairable. I would not try it. I did and then had to make a trip to the junk yard to replace the temp guage.

I think the Ebay needle overlays say they need a clear needle to work with - ours are solid white plastic.

Hey durb69, do you have a pic of your gauges at night? I’m thinking about doing the same thing too. I could find the uv paint for the needles but, where did you get the uv bulbs for the dash? Thanks in advance.

Hey dude you can buy the UV LED’s here—>LED’s
I used blue however! It still looks really nice and does make the guages glow. I will be perchasing the UV style LEd’s soon and converting it. But you can check out the pics of my guages
here->Guages! The pics do not do any justice as to how great it looks though. My digital camera is really crappy at night photo’s. So take that into concideration. I also have a step buy step how too that i made in word but it’s a really large file I could split it up and send it to you via e-mail though I think. Or via fax if you have access to a fax machine. Let me know and I will get the info to ya.

this is what i did , i took out my stock bulds behind the guage cluster, then this was the starting point no lights , right , then i found a performance shop that was selling led wedge bulbs, which by the way are the exact size for where the 3 major points are in the back , so I get some light coming through nice and bright blue, exactlly like the vw gulf gti , very nice, but only some of the area was covered with the light so at auto zone they sell an led kit that i could stick in the rest of the wholes creating an alaround reverse glow efect using the stock guages and the cluster, ,now this was perfect for me as its bright enough to see where the needle breaks the light so you can see where its at , but i figured i wanted more, i painted my needles with glow in the dark red paint kid stores aways have it, and then got 2 uv leds and put them in the top so you cant see them but cast a glow which makes the needles glow, now this is has got to be the best reverse setup ive seen , and i spent about 20 for parts and no messing with breaking the needles.

My Cluster on Carbon Fiber

This is what I did to my cluster and it works great

That looks great. What paint EXACTLY did you use? And could I use translucent red paint, like Testors?
