o2 sensor wiring help

yea, so im gonna get that one, then i already unclipped the harness from the block so i’ll just find a safe route down threw the back of the motor and i dont think i will have to extend shit, will update when i do as this would be good info for someone else who does this set up as well…

well i just got the new bosch unit, clipped apart a bunch of the wrapping in the bay and pulled the o2 sensor harness wire as far to rear of the motor as i could…didn’t get as far as i hoped so i ended up extending the o2 wire AGAIN, but this time i had the wiring from the Old o2 sensor, got that, some butt connectors, heat shrink tubing, and 3M electrical tape…got it all in and it seems to be working alright so far, pulled negative terminal let car sit with no load on running for 20 mins and took for test drive…runs great!!

heres some pics anyway

custom made jack, drove up on brick, from brick to spare tire, then put brick under stock jack lol

my new extended bosch sensor

and this is as far as i could move the o2 plug from the harness, its almost near the trottle body

Glad you got it sorted… O2 sensors can be a bitch!

more then likely the issue was the shielded wiring. it is necessary since the o2 signal is quite sensitive compared to other sensors. sensitive and detrimental. it’s read through millivolts, so the shielding is necessary to block out interference. shielding is actually usually grounded on its own, so a common problem with o2 tampering is that the signal becomes shorted to the shield ground

uh oh, just stumbled a bid when i ran to the store, but didn’t do it after that or on the way home…ordered new plug wires and gonna do the plugs soon…maybe thats the issue now lol

if the problem persists, try disconnecting the o2. if the problem is ignition related, it will remain with the o2 disconnected

i drove the car this morning with is disconnected, was very suprised when my check engine light did not come on. although i could smell the exhaust really strong, since putting in this new sensor the smell has gone away and car runs really well, just had that 1 stumble for a brief second, when before it was doing it almost all the time and made the car super hard to drive

Nice jack! LOL. Being able to drive the car is overrated anyway, I still can’t get used to seeing mine with the wheels on the ground as opposed to on stands… so, what we REALLY want to know is, how do you like that new header??

haha, i love the way it looks thats for sure, but install is a different story, i had to cut the fan soo much, the shroud AND the blades!! wasnt sure how that would affect it but it still seems to keep the car cool

noticed this was a semi-old thread. i put some headers on in december. did the exact same thing this bryan24207 did, and now i have a cel and my car is running poorly. i did solder the wires for o2. silver to copper. is that a definite no-no. whats the proper way to do it? i still have one good 02 laying around
