Oil in Spark Plugs

Need some advice, I just bought '90 LS with 113K miles. As I was changing the spark plugs I found oil in the threads in the middle 2 plugs. Is this an Overhead Gasket leak? If so, is it hard to change? I’m not really mechanical talented but I can manage to do basic stuff. Or should I just take it to the shop?

head gaskets are easy but check your new plgs now that you got them in there drive it on out to the north shore and back unless you live near kailua then in that case head out towards barbers point and back. during the drive watch for anysmoke at high rpms. if you dont see any smoke and your plugs seem fine let it ride. also check your oil make sur there is no water in it . If there is water in there the oil will look like the frothy part of a cappachino.

Thanks, Will drive to North Shore tomorrow and check out the plugs. Hopefully they will be good to go

what part of the island you live on my dad is in kailua

Schofield Barracks

oh ok. I lived with my dad in aiea for the summer about 8 years ago.

I take it you didn’t like living here? Its nice and stuff but very limited room to drive and explore. I can’t wait to get back to the mainland…Cali

It was cool but just to confined and prices are way to high for everything except pineapple and sugar.

Very True…Good thing I don’t pay rent or utilities and I get to shop at the commissary for food. Or else I would be sucking, specialy with military pay!!!

If itz JUST the threeads, its your spark plug grommets. If itz on teh tip of the plug, ie the electrode, you’re burning oil through either valve seeals or heead gasket failuree.

check the valve cover nuts… i had the same problem awhile back cuz i was missin one nut in the middle of the valve cover… i replaced it with another nut and i no longer have an oil leak in my spark plugs… lates!!
