Patience is wearing thin.......need help!

Ok… first of all, when my teg is idling it sputters like crazy from the exhaust…last night i listened and all i heard was pop…pop pop…pop, its not loud or nothing ,just noticeable, also the idling is erratic , the tach moves up and down and up and down, sometimes it will idle just fine then its just up and down, when i take off from a stop after driving it hesitates like crazy,i just replaced my spark plugs from bosch platimum plus fours to ngk ZFR5F-11, i didnt gap them though, so im thinkin it must be my 8.5 mm MSD wires,or my timing is off, or somethin needs adjusted, ive tried to be patient and just ignore it but im fed up, sorry this is so long, any suggestions???

yea… anyone know the cure??

i guess nobody knows a solution, i guess ill have to go to acura and spend mad $$$:(

Try checking the gap of your plugs. It should be 0.039-0.043". Also, check your timing. Check your ECU if it’s throwing any engine codes. And lastly, try resetting your ECU.

well you know with 92-93 tegs how you have to jump a wire in the connector thing to get the check engine light to come on, well i dont know really if i doing it right, im just taking a paper clip and bending it, should i use somethin different, and to reset the ecu you take out the 7.5amp fuse out right?

ok i just called ngk and they said that all their spark plugs come pre gapped at 0.44, so i need to check my tegs specifications for that…another ?..how do you adjust timing???

Yes, major spark plug manufacturers always state that their plugs come pre-gapped. Which is true, but in reality, that’s not really the case. You have to take into account shipping & handling of goods, and consumers mishandling the product (i.e. kids dropping it on the floor). A spark plug gauge is only $3-5 at the most and it only takes a minute to check the gap of your plug before installing it in your engine. So, never miss that step.

As for checking the timing, check the Teg Tips. And for resetting the ECU, I’m not exactly sure which fuse since I have the Canadian model. I believe both (US & Can) are different.

Good luck,

Oz

thanx man
