PCV System

A couple pics of my progress so far.

I am in the middle of my turbo setup, and I have read all of the guide about the pcv system. What if I were to just release the pcv system through the air filter that comes with the catch can, instead of routing the hose into the pre turbo pipe. Just curious what thoughts you might have. My buddy is doing this on his car.

My setup consists of… Rubber hose comnig off oil/ait seperatob(black box) then doing a 180* and pointing at the ground. As for the valve cover. I have a 90* bend comngi off it, then gonig tot he gronud with anoteh rubber hose. Both lines are clear so I can see if I have any bad blowby etc. My car doesn’t smoke any and hardly any blowby. Runs great. better then my odls etup that had a catchcan and was a closed loop system.

Looks nice what does your setup consist of. Lets see some more pics.

Hey looks like you’ve bought that SSautocrhome stuff. Beware, put a bulletproof brace to support turbo and wastegate. I see your car is a 90. This setup (on ebay) is called to go on any b18 but specially on 92-95 civic. Tell me about the intercooler clearance when the bumper is on…

I plan to buy this setup too… even though ive heard pretty sad stories.
thx man

The manifold was braced in 4 different places when I recieved it, very solid. Not the greatest manifold but a start. So far I realize I will need a 92-93 bumper. I got the turbo kit and was not let down, it is all do it yourself. Thats the way I like it, so I can do it how I want.

Hey jls it’s nice to see someone from MN in here, this spring we should get a meet going.

The rest of my setup consist of

New head with port and polish (D-H racing very nice work)
Walbro 255 fuel pump
Forged pistons and h-beam rods, Total Seal rings
Turbonetics evo wastegate, and T3/T4 hybrid turbo
Plan on using Turbo Edit and ECUcontrol
Kteller 2.5" exhaust
All the oil lines, bearings, catchcan, and hardware.
ARP head studs
Thinking about Tokico hp struts and shocks or the illumina not sure yet.

Thought you might want to see the winter ride.

I bought the whole SSAutoChrome kit and it was complete and of pretty high quality for the price. The manifold already has a brace on it, it’s two metal strips welded to the flange and manifold. It supports the turbo pretty well if you make sure the welds are clean and smooth. Hell, I had my shit for over two years and no rust at all on it. Still was able to get $250 for it even though that’s what I paid for it originally.

very pleased to see i will be able to get this ssautocrhome stuff cause i’m goin turbo this spring. A worry i had with the “complete kit” they announce is that intercooler is made to fit civic although it seems to fit on G2’s. ALso, downpipe is not braised.
But thank for the info. Anything good or bad to say about your setup 92G2GSturbo, or any picture to tease me  ?

Yup here in the land of snow and ice. You got any more pics of the rest of the car. Mine needs new paint and some other stuff. Can’t complain though as I only paid 200 bucks for it. You can check out pics of my car and stuff in these threads.

More pics of my setup above

Car looks to be in really good shape for the age and the weather here  . I like the yellow

Hey I was wondering how your catch can was working out for you. I am almost finished with everything to get my car going and I was reading in the turbo guide about crank case pressure and wondering what I should do about it. I was thinking about getting a catch can and wondering if it was worth the cash or if there was a low cost alternative that wouldn’t harm the engine in any way.

check this out…its kind of ghetto…but it would work as a catch can…hth

It worked great, I bought the moroso catch can and then ran a line into the side from were the pcv was. Then I got a rubber grommet for a pcv valve and put in the top with a pcv valve in it. I then ran that line from the pcv valve to the pre turbo pipe. I will take some pics for you, since I just confused myself. I got the grommet, fitting, and pcv valve at Checker. I will try to get the part number for the grommet if I still have it. It also fits perfect below the battery try, since I am not moving my battery to the trunk for a while.

Do you even need a catch can? I just took out my pcv valve and blocked off the hole in the intake manifold. There is an open hose running from the back of the block. And a hose running from the valve cover breather to the pre turbo intake pipe on my setup

“Many of the popular turbo PCV options include the use of a catch can. The catch can has internal baffling that separates out more oil vapor from the system. This is important because oil vapor effectively lowers the octane rating of the gas you are using, making detonation more likely”

I got this from the turbo guide.

oil isnt going into my engine, its just blowing all over the roads. So i guess im alright
