i did a search and found one thread relating… 91 Frost Teg said he used a snowboard wax scraper, but i dont have access to one of those… i tried using a hair dryer and a gentle puddy spatula (spelling?) but it wasn’t working… anyone have any ideas for a poor guy who wants get rid of those damned pin stripes?
Go buy an eraserwheel from a body/paint supplies place. It will work with a cordless drill pretty good. Most pinstripes are a pain to remove. I didnt have any money when I started my process, so I just used an regular eraser. It took a longass time, but was worth the effort. HTH.
i used a credit card a few months ago and it worked pretty well for about half of once side but the rest wasn’t coming off and i didn’t want to get too violent and scratch the paint… it looks worse now with bits and pieces left… how much does an eraserwheel go for? thanks
you use a hair dryer to heat it up and then peal it off. To remove the adhesive stuff you use goo gone or goof off and put it on a small section and let it sit for a minute or so and then get a rag and go crazy on it. if the stuff you use works good it will come off easily
yah go and get one of those erase wheels, that what i used. It also helps if your brother is a body man.

my pinstriping came off on my car in like 30 minutes for the whole thing. its really very easy. if you wait til the weather is hot and you let the sh!t cook for a while its even easier. just make sure if you are scraping it off to get the glue too, on my front left quarter panel there was some bidy work done and they used different pinstriping than the factory and the glue stayed on  it took forever with goo gone to get that crap off. but now it looks oh so clean:D but heat is good, and sun is not as frustrating as a blow dryer, i used my sisters and smoked it doing this job. and i was out 20 bucks.

yeah. that’s why i wanted to try doing it today… it was a very hot humid day ( i live in southern mississippi) i’m gonna try again tomorrow. i had to work at 5 today… i guess i’ll have to go get some goo gone… thanks for all the responses… if i get a chance tomorrow i’ll let everyone know how it goes… i might ahve to wait til wednesday though, i get paid! ![]()
but once you get them off, what about the non-faded paint behind them?? Do you just live with the bright paint contrasting the old stuff? or how do you get it to blend?
GO to a car wash and use pressure. cost me 2.50 and about 4 minutes to get them all off. Just be VERY careful if there are any paint chips near them. That much pressure can blow the paint off too. But it worked great and looks much better without them.
what would a pressure car wash do to blend the new and old looking paint?
Pressure washing is not for blending the paint, it’s for removing the pin-stripe. Completely blending the paint is not possible. I used some polishing compound to blend the stripes in a little but they are still there if you look close.
to get the glue off go to any car dealer and go to the detail shop and get some of their glue remover. Not sure what it is but it is the best sh!+.
I think my pinstripe is under the clearcoat, do i have to get it repainted to remove?

what is an eraserwheel?.. i want to get some decals of my winter car, and am havin a tough time.
haha…mine pulled right off just as the day it was put on, just like a really long sticker.
mine is definatly waxed into the paint, n e ideas?
i just used a razor. in any case heat would probably help a lot more.
razors no good, i tried that with the goo off stuff to take the front emblem off and it strached it a little…eventho there barely noticeable i dont want any scratches on my paint…this sucks… :bang:
3M makes a rubber wheel for removing pinstripes from cars: 3M rubber wheel. you can probably pick that up from your local sherwin williams automotive paint store.
hair dryer and ur fingers ! takes a long time but it works ! just peel it off and do it on a hot day… worked for me
