picked it up yesterday afternoon. i’m 2/3 of the way through it already, i’ll have it finished by tonight. i just can’t put it down.
You should get the audiobook. Henry Rollins does one of the voices.
Picked this up the other day too. for the Glock 26 of course.
stellar choice. Don makes good kit.
yes he does
Ya know I think I still have one of his IWB models for a 1911.
Guess I better go buy a 1911.
:giggle:
sounds perfectly reasonable:)
The only decision is, Springer loaded, Kimber Crimson Carry, Eclipse, or Raptor.
Harumph.
I’ll mull it over for 6-7 months and make a decision.
finally picked up the tercel today after a week of phone tag. EPIC thread to follow.

:werd: I’m partial to the kimbers myself
I’ve heard that you have to spend a lot of money on a really nice Kimber to get one that runs nice, not that I’ve ever seen one that was what I would call “inexpensive.”
Junkman, if I’m going to be reading about a Tercel, it BETTER be fucking epic.
For the new film SLR, I ordered 5 rolls of this:
5 rolls of this (B&W):
and this to support the new MONSTER lens in low light.

mine runs quite nice and wasn’t too high priced for a kimber. they run tight tolerances for a 1911, and they generally only like kimber mags.
Not actual pics. Didn’t bother getting pics as it’s all in unopened cases.
1500 rounds of Federal XM193
1000 rounds of Fiocchi 45ACP
1000 rounds of Fiocchi 9mm
And 1000 rounds of 7.62x39 steel cased too.
$1200 isn’t really a whole lot of cash for a quality 1911.
Sure, you can get a Springer GI for 5 bills or even a Rock Island for 425. But out of those two only the Springer has a forged frame/slide (RIA/Armscor is cast, and made in the Philippines) which means most smiths that are worth their salt won’t work on the Armscor/RIA model. Not only that, but have you ever heard how rattly the frame/slide fit is on cheaper models? Yeesh.
Considering I could have said I wanted a Nighthawk or Ed Brown 1911, those easily run the $2500-$3000 gamut (and go up from there). $1200 is a very reasonable amount of money for a QUALITY 1911.

If you’re going to shoot film shoot a Chrome of some type
What do you mean?
Chrome is used for transparencies, I find that is produces better results, richer more saturation and slightly higher resolving power. Some of that may actually be personal preference, but that what I used to shoot as opposed to Print film. I found it superior in overall appearance and performance where speed is not needed.
Most every manufacturer had there own version of it. Ektachrome, Kodachrome, fujichrome, etc. if you are going to really start shooting a lot of film, get away from 35mm and step up to at least 2.25, 4x4 or 6x4. For me the only format I would still like to shoot i film is 8x10 in a view camera… they are magical
You should look into getting your own film loading equipment… it’s really not that difficult to roll your own film
OK, I got ya. I’ll look into it.
I want to eventually to set up my own dark room and I definitely plan on getting at least one medium format camera, but before any of those things I’ve got 2 more lenses I need for my DSLR…and an upgraded body. Hopefully in May I’ll get those out of the way cause there is a lot of film based gear I want to get.

:werd: friend of mine bought a Springer GI recently, sounds like it’s going to fall apart almost.
