Probably a stupid question…but I only learn by asking, and I heavily value everyones opinion on this board. Okay…here we go. Will these pistons JE HONDA 1.6 ZC(D16A1):75mm/9:1 for a D16 as it says, work in a B16A1? Or does everything…including internals for D16’s not work in B16’s. And if they don’t, does anyone know where I can get 9:1 forged JE pistons for a B16A, that don’t cost an arm and a leg? PLEASE help. Thanks a lot, Mark
nope. that bore is WAAAYYYYYYYY smaller than a b-series bore. our stock is 81 mm, and often times (like i will be doing with my b16) it can be overbored to a factory 81.25mm spec. honda makes type r pistons, for example, in a .25mm overbore size as well as standard bore size. why type r you ask? oh i dunno. ![]()
I’m confused:confused: I always thought that B16A’s bore was 75mm, and a B18A is 81mm…Also in the Summit Catalog with the RX7 on the cover there are a set of Arias piston with overbore size 75mm that say they fit B16A1, D16A6, D16Z6, and D16Y7?
One last question, will a set of SRP pistons that fit a B16A2/3 fit an 88-91 B16A? Please let me know.
I thought I kinda had a handle on this stuff until, I got into stroke, bore, etc…lol OH well. Thanks, LocalePED
that’s a misprint on the pistons. i went and measured my cylinders with a caliper. 81.02 mm.
How about the SRP pistons? will a set of SRP pistons that fit a B16A2/3 fit an 88-91 B16A? Please let me know.
b16=b16. doesn’t matter what year it’s from. b16’s only differed in compression (for the sake of pistons that is).
Zoom this is awesome. Now I can run a set of SRP at 9.1:1 compression for the boost I will be using. Thanks a lot for your help:D
Thought that I was done asking questions on this thread…One last question. SRP pistons are made out of 4032 Alloy. I know that 2618 Alloy is among the strongest, but what about the 4032 alloy that the SRP pistons are made out of? They need to be able to withstand 16psi max. Are these pistons capable? Thanks again, LocalePED
mark, just so you know, almost all b series engines have an 81mm bore (b16a (all of them), b17a1, b18a, b18b, b18c (all of them), b16b).
the crv engine has an 84mm bore. and i believe there are some other older b series engines from ludes and such that are different.
also, all of the 81mm bore pistons are pretty much interchangible. For instance, you can put gsr type r pistons in a b18c1 or a b16a, or a b17a, or even a b18a/b. The only difference is that the rods on the b16a’s, b17a’s, and b18a/b’s are slightly fatter at the top where they connect to the piston. So, in order to put type r or even b18c1 pistons in any of those engine you would need to shave the rods 1mm on each side—many people have done this.
oh, and how is the wiring harness coming along?

WOW, thats good to know about the pistons being interchangeable. So more or less, there is an enless number of combinations! Cause spending 600 for custom made JE’s was a bit much…when I could get the same pistons with the same CR for a diffrent Bseries engine for a lot less! What about the 4032 alloy that SRP pistons are made out of? Is this alloy suffiecient for 16psi?
Colin: Still haven’t got the harness yet from Kenji…So I don’t know whats up. Did you end up ordering one from him as well?
Later, LocalePED
Please let me know what you guys are doing about ordering wiring harnesses. I am interested in a new one. Find a good price?
