Questions on transplanting B18A from 93 to 90 shell.

Here is the injector with the notch and the cut .

That sucks, you should have not traded your OBD1 harness it had all the plugs that you needed. I went to the salvage yard and picked up an extra CRX harness and combined it with the harness out of my 93 Integra teardown to put the B18C in my CRX. That way if I ever needed to put the old D16A6 back in it would just be bolt and plug. There are OBD0 to OBD1 ECU adapters on EBay for under $36.00. They have really come down in price.

Yes you will need the grey harness plugs. Do yourself a favor and get rid of those crimp splices! I quit using those 25 years ago because they are terrible for long term electrical connections.

lol I was just using the crimp splicers as a temp to go get the parts I needed. Didnt want to wire it up and take it apart after I got the plug.

Is it possible to run the 4 wire O2 on my obd0 setup or is that only if I was converting to obd1? Tried searching but no concrete stuff.

It’s possible.

  • You’d want to run it in the correct location (collector, not primaries)
  • You’d need to wire in the other 3 wires so that the “heater” in the sensor works

There should be some OLD threads about doing this. I know it was discussed a lot 10-15yrs ago when people were starting to do a lot more b16a swaps and there wasn’t as much info about swaps in general.

Simple question, the 2 thick wires that go to the relay box, which wire goes where? I have to extend them because they were cut and not sure. One comes from the positive battery and the other I believe is from the alternator.

Cranking but won’t start, throwing code 15??? Any ideas?

this is turning into quite the mess. almost woulda been better off swapping over the entire harness and ecm! lol.
but anyways, hindsight is 20/20…
check for spark. did you mess with any of the distributor wiring? i know you said the harness was missing the 2 pin connector

Yes hindsight is 20/20, I would definitely recommend anyone swap all the harness over or convert to OBD1, swap is done just need to solder some plugs together and tighten bolts down.

Problem
I was sold a crap OBD0 distributor.

Solution
Converted to OBD1, bought ecu and distributor jumper and used my old distributor and ecu then cut he notches from my injectors and removed resistor box and voila started right up! Also got lucky and someone donated an OBD0 engine harness and I used the small distributor pigtail, thermo fan switch pigtail, and head coolant temp pigtail. Not to mention the drivers side engine mount is different 92-93 and 90-91 and paid $25 for a perfect one.

What I learned
CONVERT to obd1 and be done with it, make sure parts work with proof, have parts ready before you begin a big project.

Thanks to welfare, Colin and 2ndJenn for all the input. Hopefully ill get a little video up soon.

Good deal, yes 1st engine swap is not a quick thing, unless you do research and get the parts beforehand! Luckily I have never been in a rush on my swaps. Get pissed, take a break and clear your head then get back to it.

right on. got it running and learned some things. life is good. life is good
